Bill would give patients, providers great flexibility for addiction information

A new bill is in progress that would require HHS to develop guidelines for when a patient’s opioid use disorder information can be prominently displayed in the medical record.

“The emergency room has become the portal of entry for many hospitals as your front door. Up to 80% of patients come through the emergency room. It really pays for itself to put case managers and social workers into the emergency room where you can get that bed status and work with the ED doctor and the admitting physician,” says Elizabeth Lamkin, MHA, ACHE, CEO of PACE Healthcare Consulting, LLC in the webinar Challenging Classic Paradigms in Revenue Integrity.
