Zeigler Auto Group, based in Michigan, has been ordered to pay 214 employees a total of $85,111 in minimum wages and overtime back wages following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Detroit Free Press reports.
The heavy-duty straps holding the front tires to our rented car trailer had come loose, which means the parking brake and a safety chain over the rear axle prevented the ’53 Packard from rolling off the trailer at highway speed. Towing the car to Detroit became a seven-hour stress test.
