We have rescheduled the art sale of paintings by North Carolina folk artist Clyde Jones to Saturday, September 26, due to the potential of inclement weather. We hope you can join us for this rare opportunity to purchase paintings by beloved artist Clyde Jones. Browse a selection of over 200 playful paintings of critters, including crayfish, lizards, cows, fish, giraffe, birds, penguins, and MORE! Prices start at just $35. All proceeds benefit CAM and will help the museum to recover after a six-month closure because of the COVID-19 crisis. Live music by Zach Hanner on CAM's grounds and Cary Benjamin in the CAM Café courtyard. Masks and social distancing required.
Clyde Jones, from Bynum, NC, is an internationally recognized artist known for his whimsical wooden critters and paintings. Clyde did not sell his work, preferring to give it away, even when celebrities like Mikhail Baryshnikov showed up in front of his house in a limousine. His lively critters have traveled across the globe - as far away as the Great Wall of China - and have found homes in the collections of the American Visionary Art Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, and, of course, Cameron Art Museum. This art sale is an unusual opportunity to purchase his work and support Cameron Art Museum!
