We are looking for an experienced Membership Officer at Res Artis!

This role is based at our international headquarters on Wurundjeri woi-wurrung Country in Collingwood (Victoria, Australia) and is part-time (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday).
The position of Membership Officer is an integral role at Res Artis focused on the growth and development of our organisation by way of member liaison, retention and recruitment. The Membership Officer acts as the main point of contact for more than 600 existing members as well as potential Res Artis members, by approving membership applications, processing membership payments, responding to enquiries and actively working to recruit and retain our rapidly growing international membership base. This position plays an integral role to Res Artis by acting as the conduit between member needs and strategic decision-making.

Join over 200 artists, arts residency providers and leading cultural mobility experts from around the globe at our next Res Artis conference from 6-9 September 2023, hosted byAcmein partnership with University College London (UCL). Titled Mind the Gap: Designing residencies for everyone, the conference will bring the international artist residency community together in the UK for the very first time, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Res Artis and 50 years of Acme. This year’s event will help chart a future for impactful residency opportunities, with a focus on optimism and practical working solutions for issues facing the sector. Taking place in London with live-streamed sessions, Mind the Gap: Designing residencies for everyone will explore our post-pandemic and increasingly fragmented world. The event will propose co-creation and collaboration as solutions to shared obstacles faced globally by residency providers and the artists they host.

Call Out for Speakers...

We're looking for submissions for conference content, with funding available for a limited number of successful proposals. Taking place in person and online, Mind the Gap: Designing residencies for everyone will explore our post-pandemic and increasingly fragmented world. The event proposes co-creation and collaboration as solutions to shared obstacles faced globally by residency providers and the artists they host.
A mix of keynotes, artist performances, panel discussions, practical workshops and breakout working party groups will address issues ofpower, access and diversity & notions of working in partnership and co-creation.

At Res Artis we are SHIFT-ing our practices towards sustainability! We are thrilled to partner with 15 other international European cultural networks, to start our journey of eco-certification! The one year pilot phase will bring us to the audit and hopefully green certification.

Organisations involved include: EJN - Europe Jazz Network, REMA,, Aerowaves , ECHO, IETM International network for contemporary performing arts, Culture Action Europe, ENCATC, Opera Europa, CIRCOSTRADA, ELIA - European League of Institutes of the Arts, European Music Council, On the Move, ASSITEJ International, International Music Council, European Dancehouse Network, Creative Carbon Scotland (supporting organisation) and Green Leisure Group (supporting organisation).

The La Barre Artist Residency is an artist-run initiative positioned on a small slice of rural french country side in Chalais, France.

Our residency provides emerging and mid-career artists a place for innovation and experimentation, offering an immersive environment, intercultural reciprocity and professional support.

Located in the Parc Naturel Regional De La Brenne we offer artists a large shared studio; access to a shared workshop with a wide range of power operated and handheld tools; and large plein air painting stretches. We have fifteen acres of land and have outdoor facilities for artists for many disciplines. The land and fields are bordered by river and part of the area is shaded in a wooded hill.

The objective of the Læsø AiR programme for professional visual artists is to support the development of artists’ practice and to promote the exchange between Danish and foreign artists and the Danish art scene.

The artists granted residencies will be given the opportunity to take part in networking activities, study visits, meetings with relevant professionals and institutions, and to receive professional artistic feedback. Læsø AiR also wishes to support the artistic process and research phase by providing the artists with time, space and opportunities for reflection and contemplation.

At our global headquarters in Melbourne, Australia we have an archive of books and ephemera, collected from valued Members and partner-organisations over our multi-decade history. The collection celebrates the diversity and innovations of the arts residency sector. We are always interested in adding to the archive, to ensure our Member's work, projects, and initiatives can be shared and appreciated for decades to come! We want to celebrate the work done by our Members and the creatives they support. In lieu of our conference How to inhabit instability?to be hosted byIZOLYATSIA in cooperation with Ukrainian Institute, House of Europeand Goethe-Institut Ukraine that was scheduled to take place in Kyiv in late 2022 and is now cancelled due to the war, we have diverted our focus to work with our partners on building a special section of our websiteto support Ukrainian arts and cultural workers in need.
