In March, CDP sent letters to the boards of 10,400 companies, with the support of investors managing more than US$130 trillion. Reuters reported on this campaign, which calls on companies to disclose environmental data through CDP each year. “For brands that have so far failed to wake up to the challenge of climate change, the time is now”, as Nicolette Bartlett (Chief Impact Officer) was quoted in this response to the latest IPCC report. This Business Insider article explains how CDP scores companies’ environmental impacts, and Simon Fischweicher (Head of Corporations and Supply Chains, North America) explained more about the benefits of disclosure. These benefits include getting ahead of regulation; such as new climate disclosure rules in the UK, which Mercedes Tallo (Chief Stakeholder Officer) discussed with Financial News. For World Water Day and the International Day of Forests, both in March, Thomas Maddox (Global Director for Forests and Land), Cate Lamb (Global Director for Water Security) and Amir Sokolowski (Associate Director for Climate Change) published an op-ed exploring how the climate crisis must be solved alongside forests and water security.
