Two Orleans Parish attorneys who helped secure recent convictions against an escapee from the Orleans Parish jail have fled the state along with their families, fearing for their safety after last week's jailbreak, District Attorney Jason Williams said Monday. Williams tried the second-degree murder case against escapee Derrick Groves in October 2024, along with the two other lawyers who left Louisiana over the weekend.
