Delta prepares to furlough 1,941 pilots in Oct. Delta Air Lines has announced it will furlough 1,941 pilots in October if cost-cutting measures can't be agreed with the Air Line Pilots Association. More than 1,800 pilots have taken early retirement, and the company told its remaining pilots last month that furloughs could be avoided with a 15% minimum pay cut. Survey: Health benefit costs expected to rise 5.3% Employers at large organizations anticipate a 5.3% rise in health benefit costs next year, with health care benefits costs reaching more than $15,000 for each employee, according to an annual survey from Business Group on Health.
