On Syria:
Addressing the recent overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria by the Islamist group Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Mr. Roman argues against a rapid U.S. withdrawal from Syria, citing potential chaos similar to the Afghanistan exit, and emphasizes the strategic importance of maintaining a presence to prevent the resurgence of extremist groups.
On Israel-Hamas War:
In light of the just-announced ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas after 15 months of fighting, Mr. Roman writes that while the deal is deeply and inherently flawed, it provides a unique opportunity to shift focus to Tehran and free the region from the clutches of the Islamic Republic. He also spells out exactly what it means when President Trump says that Hamas will have "hell to pay," by advocating for stringent economic sanctions on countries supporting Hamas to secure the release of American hostages, drawing parallels to past successful U.S. interventions like the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson from Turkey.
On Iranian Regime:
Recently, Mr. Roman has outlined a Comprehensive Strategy for Democratic Transition in Iran, in which he defines a multi-faceted approach for encouraging democratic change in Iran, including economic sanctions, support for internal opposition, and regional cooperation to dismantle Iran's proxy networks.

Gregg Roman is the director and chief operations officer of the Middle East Forum. Prior to joining MEF in 2015, he was the director of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. In 2014, he was named one of the ten most inspiring global Jewish leaders by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. He previously served as the political advisor to the deputy foreign minister of Israel and worked for the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Mr. Roman speaks at venues around the world about the Middle East and is frequently interviewed on international television channels, including Fox News, i24NEWS, Al-Jazeera, BBC World News, and Israel’s channel 12 and 13. He is a guest opinion contributor at The Hill and has been published in Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, and the Jerusalem Post. He attended American University in Washington, D.C., and the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Israel, where he studied national security studies and political communications.
