President Biden’s Reckless Student Loan Cancellation Plan President Biden’s plan to cancel $300 billion of student loans may seem compassionate on its face, but this latest giveaway is inflationary, illegal, and intended to help those who need it least: high-income college graduates. Meanwhile, blue-collar workers who did not go to college — folks like my mom, who worked double shifts as a nurse’s aide to keep food on our table — will be forced to foot the bill. As our nation enters a recession, this latest step from the Biden administration proves once again that they fundamentally misunderstand the American economy. Remembering the Failed Afghanistan Evacuation This month one year ago, President Biden orchestrated a botched withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan. The Biden administration’s lack of foresight and planning to safely exit Afghanistan resulted in the loss of 13 U.S. servicemembers’ lives. Even today, many Americans and thousands of our Afghan allies remain trapped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, despite President Biden’s promise to bring them out. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and I recounted this tragic event and shared why we remain hopeful for the future of our nation. This week we are spilling the Sweet Tea on Ms. Anna Brown, a CHS Foundation Teacher scholarship winner. Ms. Brown has been educating students and teachers throughout our nation on agriculture. South Carolina has millions of acres of farmland spread across the state and thousands of jobs related to agriculture.
