THAT BUMPER STICKER: Remember the 1991 governor's race? Yeah, that one. Edwin Edwards vs. David Duke. The race that produced the famous bumper sticker: “Vote for the Crook. It’s important.” Tyler Bridges takes us back a few decades for a glimpse at the "race from hell" and the sticker that came to define it. Edwards, the state's only four-term governor, died Monday at age 93. You can check out some background here. And here.
FRUSTRATED: The slow pace of garbage collection has a lot of New Orleanians in slow-burn mode. And they’ve let the city know it. Nearly 4,000 called the city’s 311 number last month to report delays, Missy Wilkinson reports.
PUPPY LOVE: Everyone loves a story that ends happily. And in Kenner, the story of Korben the Yorkie certainly does. The pup is back with his humans, now, after apparently being dognapped from his yard recently. Korben's humans? They’re ecstatic.
Also in the news: New Orleans police were investigating a homicide this morning, a man who was shot to death in the Little Woods area. And the Zony Mash Beer Project in New Orleans says it has pulled the plug on live music.
All this and much more in today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. BW |
