In a settlement with the state Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, its owner agreed to give up his liquor license and not open another bar in Louisiana. The bar has been at the center of intense controversy since sheriff's deputies said LSU student Madison Brooks was raped and fatally hit by a car after a night drinking there. There are already plans for another Tigerland bar to take over the space. Flood insurance is soon getting a huge overhaul, and that is very bad news for many people in Louisiana. Some parts of the state are likely to face enormous price increases, and those increases could vary widely based on flood risk.
