Secretary Scalia Discusses Reentry and Reopening in Tennessee In Tennessee, U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia highlighted the Departments recent announcement of $90 million in grant funding to help individuals who are exiting the justice system reenter the workforce during a roundtable discussion with grant recipient Knoxville Leadership Foundation and other community representatives. He also visited a Knoxville Leadership Foundation training and credentialing program with Rep. Tim Burchett, and a community college and manufacturing company with Rep. Phil Roe. |
New FMLA Forms and RFI The Department streamlined optional-use forms that workers and employers can use to request and coordinate leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act. We also published a Request for Information seeking feedback on the laws administration and use. |

USMCA and Reopening in North Carolina Secretary Scalia visited North Carolina with House Committee on Education and Labor ranking member Rep. Virginia Foxx. In suburban Charlotte, they discussed how the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement will strengthen U.S. manufacturers and thanked workers at a textile manufacturers distribution center for their work to distribute millions of face coverings and gowns in response to the coronavirus. During a roundtable discussion with local businesses and a visit to a grocery store in the Winston-Salem area, they discussed safely reopening and Administration efforts to help return to the strong economy before the coronavirus. |
Coronavirus Grants The Department has awarded a $3 million grant to address the coronaviruss workforce-related impacts, bringing the total amount awarded in 57 grants to states and territories to $248,249,950. |
