Performa Racing P1 HMX 10 brushless controller Posted: 12 Jul 2019 07:40 AM PDT Performa Racing have introduced their new P1 HMX 10 brushless speed controller for 1/10th scale vehicles. To allow for simpler, more user-oriented tuning, the controller features four different pre-defined settings based on the track condition, doing away with the need to carry a programming box or computer. The four settings have been tuned by Performa Racing’s engineering team together with their World Champion drivers to deliver maximum performance and simplicity. The settings are accessible by simply pressing a button on the switch. For racers that want to dig deeper and fine tune the programs, Performa will offer a PC software that will allow to change the parameters, within guidelines that ensure drivers don’t get lost, and keeping them in the optimal performance range. The controller is designed and manufactured without compromise. Each controller is assembled in Geneva, Switzerland, and it is a high-end unit produced in limited quantities for elite racers. The circuit boards are made in one of the most sophisticated factories, every board is scanned using laser analysing devices for each soldering joint and every component. The all-aluminium case has been designed to minimise its footprint and optimise cooling. External capacitors have been chosen to obtain radical performance.

Serpent S120 Pro 1/12th scale pan car kit Posted: 12 Jul 2019 04:31 AM PDT Serpent have announced the release of their all-new S120 Pro 1/12th scale competition pan car chassis kit. Building on the proven design features of the F110 SF4 formula car, the S120 Pro makes use of the “link-less” design introduced with the SF4, meaning the designers have junked the usual side links in favour of a bearing-supported linear guide system that allows to brake harder and accelerate earlier while offering greater stability and consistency when braking/accelerating and steering input overlap as the rear pod movement is independent from chassis roll. The car itself is based on a new ultra narrow carbon fibre chassis that was made possible thanks to scrapping the traditional side links while allowing to access both inline and transversal battery positions. A 1-screw battery mount allows for easy battery swaps in both battery positions with the inline position utilising a trick bottom-loaded battery tray. Other features include a new ultra low centre of gravity keyed rear pod design with shim-based ride height adjustments and the rear carbon fibre axle is also of an innovative design that utilises aluminium sleeves to increase overall stiffness while a bigger 8mm bearing on the spur gear side helps to cope with the high loads of today’s high-power motors. The centre shock absorbers utilises new larger diameter pistons and the dual roll dampers incorporate a roll limiter that also reduces the risk of dirt getting into the tubes. Up front the S120 features an evolved SF4 suspension that utilises a pan-car-specific geometry and that is easy to build and maintain. The specially designed top deck greatly supports overall chassis stiffness while allowing for two body mount positions and it doesn’t need to be removed for battery swaps, ensuring a straight chassis run after run. Included with the kit comes a special speedo and receiver mount that is used for the transversal battery configuration when the lower battery compartment plate is not in use. The plate allows for easy mounting of all components while the inline battery position utilises an aluminium battery plate. The kit is rounded out by multi-Ackermann composite steering blocks, a special servo mount for precise steering response and an 18-ball ball differential. The kit will hit stores very soon.

Protoform tease new on-road body shells Posted: 12 Jul 2019 01:57 AM PDT Following a first teaser image of their all-new Turismo body shell, Protoform have given another hint on the new 1/10th scale body while also announcing the release of their latest 1/8th scale IC Track lid. The Turismo 1/10th 190mm body is understood to be Protoform’s latest go on the recent LCG/high downforce body trend that has produced some very extreme designs the recent months. Protoform has basically started the idea with the already iconic Type-S, however they seem to have lost some ground due to a very proactive European brand and are now trying to catch up again with the Turismo. As for the X-15 body, the shell is coming right on time for the forthcoming IFMAR 1/8th IC Track World Championship that will be held on home soil at the Steel City RC Speedway in Fontana, California later this year. Full details of both bodies will become available on Monday, the 15th of July. Source: Protoform [racepf.com] The post Protoform tease new on-road body shells appeared first on Red RC. ![]() |

Avid A800 limited edition titanium chassis Posted: 12 Jul 2019 12:07 AM PDT Coming from Avid are two new titanium chassis for the Awesomatix A800X series touring car. The chassis has been designed for high bite conditions and Avid widened the standard arm pivots in the rear 0.5mm on each side – arms further from the bulkheads – which stabilizes the car allowing to drive it harder with more confidence. The designers have also narrowed the long arm suspensions pivots in the rear 0.5mm on each side – arms closer to the bulkheads – to match the rear. Avid recommend using this chassis to increase performance on high to medium bite conditions with Kyle Klingforth, who helped develop the chassis, finishing 2nd in the Touring Modified class at this year’s ROAR Carpet Nationals, forcing other teams to fly in custom titanium chassis due to them offering quite an advantage. The limited edition chassis fits the standard motor position A800X and it is available in exclusive oil slick or standard black anodising. Source.
