With the completely new platform – only the rear shocks and few other bits remaining the same from its predecessor – Joona found new speed and consistency, pointing out the higher cornering speed and increased ease of handling as the better improvements over the B64. Posted: 18 May 2019 11:03 AM PDT Michal Orlowski has taken the 3rd round of qualifying in 4wd at the Euro Offroad Series in Germany, just as light rain started to fall near the end of the heat. The rain got much heavier just as the fourth round started and so it was decided to postpone the final round until first thing in the morning. Jorn Neumann took 2nd but with the track now wet its going to be a difficult task for team mate Orlowski to take the round tomorrow morning in a faster time than the German’s Q1 time and so it is all but guaranteed that Neumann will start from pole. Bruno Coelho was 3rd, just 5/100ths behind Jorn, having run the fastest lap of the heat, while Joona Haatanen took 4th, the track running 2 seconds a lap slower by the end of heat as the track took on more water. Neumann once again fastest in Q2 Posted: 18 May 2019 10:09 AM PDT Jorn Neumann has backed up his first round TQ with another in the second qualifier, the margin much smaller this time around due to most of the front runners, including the German himself, making a number of mistakes. Joona Haatanen took 2nd with the all new Associated B74 with Daniel Kobbevik heading home Michal Orlowski who again had a number of errors, despite being the fastest on outright pace, the top 4 covered by less than a second. Bruno Coelho would take 5th ahead of Hupo Honigl with Wesley van Helmond ending up in 7th. Admitting to be a big fan of Astro turf, compared to carpet, due to its forgiving nature in terms of setup, Jorn described his race saying ‘It started good with Bruno pushing very hard, then he made a mistake, I then had a comfortable lead and then I crashed’, before saying ‘then things got interesting’. Despite it being very close at the end and the lead group switching positions throughout, the German could take the round. ‘On lap times the top 3 are very close’ continuing by saying that for Q3 they will make some adjustments based on the temperature of the track which is expected to cool and lose grip as qualifying runs into the evening. Neumann once again fastest in Q2 Posted: 18 May 2019 10:07 AM PDT Jorn Neumann has backed up his first round TQ with another in the second qualifier, the margin much smaller this time around due to most of the front runners, including the German himself, making a number of mistakes. Joona Haatanen took 2nd with the all new Associated B74 with Daniel Kobbevik heading home Michal Orlowski who again had a number of errors, despite being the fastest on outright pace, the top 4 covered by less than a second. Changing the gearbox as well as going harder in oils which improved it a lot, Joona says the main characteristic of the new car is that it is much easier to drive and faster, saying there is no need to be punched the whole time to achieve the same results. Remarking that the car also seems to run a lot freer Joona only plans a small change to the rear of the car for Q3, ending by saying ‘it’s looking good’. Kobbevik was top Xray for the round, the Norwegian driver pleased with his pace saying ‘it was a good one, I was not so fast but consistent’. Making a lot of mistakes on his way to 7th in Q1, he said he managed to eliminate a lot of those mistakes in his Q2 run. Not sure about what to change for Q3, Daniel said ‘my car is now good but not super fast’. Michal Orlowski is having a tougher time than usual, admitting that while his car is ‘really good’ with the grip having come up a lot, it is not comfortable to drive. Saying he needs to just make less mistakes, he was pleased that the team was doing so well with Jorn leading the way showing the pace of their car. View the complete event results here. Neumann takes opening 4wd Qualifier Posted: 18 May 2019 08:38 AM PDT With the 2wd portion of the event complete the attention at Rd5 of the Euro Offroad Series has switched to 4wd now running under sunny skies and finally on a dry track. Only fourth after seeding it was Jorn Neumann who would take the opening qualifier topping the round by nearly 5 seconds ahead of Bruno Coelho in 2nd. Top seed Michal Orlowski had a troubled run and would end up in 3rd, just ahead of his Schumacher team mate Wesley van Helmond, with Martin Bayer taking 5th, while Joona Haatanen with the new B74 buggy would bring the new car home in 6th. ‘It was good, we made some small changes from practice’, said Neumann, explaining that he tried to use his standard astro setup but with the track now dry, the traction is very high. With plans to reduce the front traction, he feels that with no mistakes from his competitors that he is on a very similar pace to Michal and Bruno. Neumann takes opening 4wd Qualifier Posted: 18 May 2019 08:36 AM PDT With the 2wd portion of the event complete the attention at Rd5 of the Euro Offroad Series has switched to 4wd now running under sunny skies and finally on a dry track. ‘Could be better’ was how Coelho described his opening qualifier, the Portuguese driver referring to a small crash which caused him to get caught up on the pipes and lose 3 seconds. With the mistake behind him he said his recovery drive was good and without the mistakes felt he could have matched Jorn on pace. Needing to still work on the car, the Xray driver said that while his XB4 feels comfortable as well as fast when he looks at the lap times, that feeling doesn’t translate over to outright pace and so they need to still find something. Michal Orlowski had two big mistakes, the first of which cost him 4 seconds, and the second when on a quick recovery drive and needing a perfect last lap, crashed on the last corner and lost a further 4 and a half seconds. Explaining that at the start the car felt really good and he could get into his rhythm but a few bobbles culminated in his first big crash at the end of the straight. Feeling that if he cuts out the mistakes that he has a small pace advantage over his competitors and so for Q2 will only adjust the car’s ride height, leaving everything else the same. ‘I think I made it a little too safe’ was how Wesley referred to his first qualifying run before saying ‘but maybe I will try to push harder in the next run’. Making two small mistakes, the Dutch driver was very pleased with his pace so far at the Arena33, and is just very happy to be running competitively at the sharp end of the field. Xray’s Martin Bayer was fifth, while 2wd podium finishers Joona Haatanen and Daniel Kobbevik completed the top 7. View the complete event results here. View our event image gallery here. Chassis Focus – Daniel Kobbevik Posted: 18 May 2019 08:09 AM PDT Chassis: Xray XB2C ’19 Remarks – Young Norwegian Daniel Kobbevik took what is his best career result on astroturf here in Andernach, finishing second overall after taking the win in A3. Unlike his team mate Bruno Coelho, Daniel raced the whole meeting with his carpet car, and after struggling in the wet conditions the full potential of his buggy came out in the dry last leg of finals. His car is pretty standard, only equipped with a rear aluminium camber link plate and rear XB4 graphite wishbones. Image Gallery FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

Kobbevik & Haatanen complete the 2wd podium Posted: 18 May 2019 04:33 AM PDT With Michal Orlowski sitting out A3 having wrapped up the win in A2, it was Daniel Kobbevik who emerged as the winner in a final that none of the drivers seemed to want to win. With multiple drivers taking their turn to lead the race, Daniel was able to slowly pick off those ahead of him as they all made mistakes, the Norwegian also having some early incidents. Paul Crompton lead from the start and with track conditions providing much more traction than in previous races had a difficult time with his Yokomo, a number of mistakes meaning he fell back into the pack only to emerge as the leader a few laps later as those ahead of him also crashed. He would eventually bring his car home in 2nd after some more incidents. Joona Haatanen had worked his way to the lead early on only to have a particularly hard time on the landing of the backside double, which after a handful of crashes on the same point saw him drop back to 3rd by the finish. The Schumacher challenge for the podium from van Helmond and Neumann failed to materialise despite a good start from both, however a couple of comings together meant the team mates were left fighting for the mid pack spots by the end of the race, a result which meant that neither would join their team mate Orlowski on the podium. Ultimately it was Orlowski who stamped his authority on the 2wd portion of the event early on and with his win today, his third of the season, also wraps up the 2018/19 2wd title a race early, his 3rd in succession. Behind the Polish driver, Daniel Kobbevik would take the runner up spot on tie break from Joona Haatanen, the Xray driver managing to improve his finishing position in each of the 3 mains showing a high level of maturity in the changing conditions. Joona would complete the podium, the Associated driver having the pace to win the final main in the drying conditions but ultimately luck was not on his side. Jorn Neumann would end the event in 4th, ahead of Crompton and van Helmond in 5th and 6th with Martin Bayer, a struggling Bruno Coelho, Hupo Honigl and the young Max Gotzl completing the final overall standings. Michal Orlowski dominates 2wd in Germany Posted: 18 May 2019 03:12 AM PDT Michal Orlowski continued his dominance of proceedings here at EOS Rd5 as the Polish driver lead home a Schumacher 1-2-3 in the 2nd A-main to seal the overall win here in Germany. Chased hard by Jorn Neumann who came through from 6th to finish the race less than 2 seconds behind his team mate, it was Wesley van Helmond who took 3rd just ahead of Daniel Kobbevik and Hupo Honigl, who completed the top half of the field. ‘We changed the car, which was a risky decision’ said Orlowski of his choice to switch to the Laydown car for the 2nd final. Using a different shock setup to team mate Neumann, the German clearly faster in the final part of the race, Orlwoski praised his team mate, saying ‘Jorn drove very well’. Declaring it a ‘perfect weekend in 2wd’ and wanting to thank his crew and sponsors for the win he said his focus is now on 4wd which gets underway directly after A3 of 2wd on what should be dry conditions. Michal Orlowski dominates 2wd in Germany Posted: 18 May 2019 03:10 AM PDT Michal Orlowski continued his dominance of proceedings here at EOS Rd5 as the Polish driver lead home a Schumacher 1-2-3 in the 2nd A-main to seal the overall win here in Germany. In 2nd was Neumann, the former Champion happy with his race through the field but remarked that he had to ’start too far back’, the German only qualifying in 6th in the difficult conditions yesterday. Feeling he was slightly faster than Michal, Jorn setting the fastest lap of the weekend, by the time he got up to 2nd he had a straightaway deficit and despite his car being ‘super, very good’ it was a difficult task to try and catch, let alone pass, Orlowski. With the remaining places on the podium still up for grabs and with the traction now higher than it has been at any point of the weekend he will push hard to take the win in A3 to seal the runner up spot. In his first 2wd A-main appearance at the EOS van Helmond had a much better A2 than in the opening leg where he ended up last of the 10 car field. Making a clean start this time, the Dutch man explained that he had also switched to the Laydown car and driven it for the very first time in A2, declaring the first 3 minutes of the run as a bit sketchy as he got used to the new car. Now with 5 minutes running time with the car he plans to make some set-up changes for the final A-main to try and lock down a podium spot. Daniel Kobbevik was another to relish the higher traction conditions as the Xray driver had not brought his dirt car to the race and so had to run to this point with his high traction XB2. With the grip level improving, so too has his pace as the young Norwegian improved on his A1 finish of 5th to take 4th in the second main. With the ’car getting better’ for A3 he will simply ‘try to stay clean’ and go for another good result. Xray team mate Hupo Honigl would take 5th with Joona Haatanen in 6th while Bruno Coelho had a horrid race ending the 5 minute final in 10th and last after some costly mistakes. Orlowski masters difficult conditions to take A1 Posted: 18 May 2019 01:25 AM PDT With the sun now shining and the track conditions improving slightly over yesterday, it was Michal Orlowski who won A1 of the Euro Offroad Series here at the Arena33, taking full advantage of his pole position to win by a large margin. Behind it was Joona Haatanen who came through from 5th on the grid to take the runner up spot with Bruno Coelho falling back to 3rd. Fourth place would go to former champion Jorn Neumann who had a nice battle with eventual 5th place finisher Daniel Kobbevik with Paul Crompton who had a terrible first lap, recovered to complete the top 6. Asked about his run Orlowski said ‘the track is developing some dry spots’ which the Polish teenager confirmed in marshalling following his main, using the opportunity to inspect the track surface. With the now drying track, the Schumacher driver will switch back to his Cougar Laydown for A2 ‘so there is lots of work to do’, ending by saying ‘I’m glad I got the win, it makes my life easier in the next one’. Element RC Enduro Sendero RTR trail truck Posted: 17 May 2019 03:12 PM PDT Associated Electrics have introduced their all-new Enduro Sendero RTR trail truck, the first vehicle out of their new Element RC line of high-quality ready-to-run vehicles. At the heart of the Enduro is Element RC’s revolutionary Stealth X gearbox. Although the exterior appears to have a conventional 3-gear transmission look, the inside is far from conventional. The transmission features the ability to adjust the rear drive ratio independently from the front drive across three levels: stock overdrives the front end 5.7%, option 1 provides a one-to-one drive ratio front-to-rear, and option 2 overdrives the front end 11.83%. Feeding the power to the tires are 3-piece telescopic driveshafts with an extruded aluminum center section, universal front drive axles, and hardened steel ring and pinion gears. With the Enduro drivetrain, delivering useful power will not be an issue. The designers also relocated the steering link assembly from the conventional location to behind the axle (BTA). This feature greatly improves approach angle and front-end clearance, making rough terrain much easier to handle. The Enduro Trail Truck with Sendero body comes ready for adventure right out of the box, with performance-driven Reedy Power electronics. The all-new, ultra-smooth, and powerful 16-turn, 5-slot brushed crawler motor and Reedy Power SC400X electronic speed controller with T-plug connector supply ample power to this tough rig. Controlling the beast on the trail is the new 3-channel XP130 2.4GHz radio and Reedy Power high-torque 1320MG metal-gear servo. No trail truck would be complete without a detailed and realistic looking body. The Sendero Trail Truck is just that, with inspired styling from the 80’s and 90’s. The Sendero comes equipped with a high-strength polycarbonate body that has been pre-painted to look fresh off the showroom floor. The Sendero body was designed for both looks and function, featuring a 2-piece design with increased bed depth for cargo, injection molded bumpers, windshield wipers, folding mirrors, and front grill with working LEDs. Pole position at EOS Andernach goes to Michal Orlowski Posted: 17 May 2019 11:35 AM PDT Michal Orlowski has sealed the TQ spot here in Germany for the 5th round of the Euro Offroad Series, as he once again topped the timing sheets in the third round of qualifying putting the pole position of the reach of his competitors. His Schumacher team mate Wesley van Helmond managed a clean run to take 2nd for the round some 2 seconds back and only 1 second ahead of Joona Haatanen with Xray team mates Bruno Coelho and Hupo Honigl in 4th and 5th respectively. Orlowski said after that it ‘was very tough with the track changing every run’, continuing ‘the first laps of every run we have to learn the track again’. Admitting to making a number of mistakes, the reigning Champion switched over to the stand up transmission in Q2 and has been happier since. Planning to keep the car the same for Q4 as well as continuing with the same tires since the start of qualifying, he is aiming for less mistakes despite what he believes will be lower traction in Q4, set to take place just as it will get dark here in Andernach.
