The event saw a somewhat different race format with only two qualifiers, 20 minutes long for the 2WD class while the 4WD and Truck qualifiers were held over ten minutes. The final grid was decided by the best three consecutive laps. Norwegian Touring Nationals Rd1 – Report Posted: 30 Apr 2019 12:52 AM PDT The opening round of the Norwegian Touring Nationals was held in wet conditions at the Helganes Motorsports Centre in Karmøy. With several entrants pulling out due to the weather conditions, only 6 drivers made up the Modified qualifiers, that already from the start seemed to be a battle between Øyvind Stusdal and Nikolai Håheim. As the rain had been pouring down during the night, and the rain showers were expected to continue during the day, the race officials decided to declare it a wet race, and the track was indeed very wet. Stussdahl took Q1, five seconds ahead of Håheim, before Håheim fought back in Q2 securing the heat. An unfortunate mechanical error set an early stop for Stusdal in Q3, securing Håheim the TQ. The remainder of the participants struggled heavily with the conditions. As expected the rain kept on coming throughout the finals and the track conditions stayed very wet. Stusdal had an early mechanical issue in A1, with Nikolai Håheim taking the first final, three laps ahead of Lars Møller Holst. Helge Naley was way behind both of them, commenting that slicks were definitely not the appropriate tyre choice after the first final. Stusdal fought back in A2 securing the win three seconds ahead of Håheim , however Håheim clinched it on A3, ten seconds ahead of Stusdal, taking the overall victory. Modified final results: The 13.5 Stock class had five participants that gave the difficult conditions a try. A close fight between two brothers and one of the locals would see Andreas Bryne securing TQ, in front of Ole Thomas Bryne and Odd Helge Johansen. Some close racing was seen in the Stock finals, Odd Helge Johansen and Andreas Bryne fought well against the winner, but had some bad luck and mechanical issues, Ole Thomas on the other hand, seemed to have everything working perfectly, with some impressive driving. Stock final results: Thanks to Helge Naley for the report. The post Norwegian Touring Nationals Rd1 – Report appeared first on Red RC - RC Car News. |

BRCA 1/10th IC Circuit Nationals Rd1 – Report Posted: 29 Apr 2019 11:54 PM PDT The opening round of the British 1/10th IC Circuit nationals took place this past weekend at the Adur circuit in the south of England. Dry but windy qualifying conditions would see the usual contenders battling for overall TQ. In 200mm it would be Joe Kerry with his Capricorn taking top spot some 4 seconds in front of Serpent’s John Zottl, with James Connolly rounding out the top 3 driving a Mugen. In 220mm GT, returning to the class, Serpent driver Mark Green dominated qualifying to claim pole position in front of the Capricorn of Glyn Beal and Richard Kozakiewicz also driving a Serpent. The GT8 support class would see Serpent’s Paul Bellinger taking overall TQ in front of the IGT8s of Glyn Beal and Rob Scott. Finals started with the threat of rain which appeared in the closing stages of the 200mm A-main. Pole man Joe Kerry would retire at around the 10-minute mark, leaving John Zottl and James Connolly to fight it out for the win. James would take the lead on the penultimate lap to take the win by the narrowest of margins from John, with Neil Wallace moving up from fourth on the grid to round out the podium. Rain was falling for the start of the 220mm GT A-main, meaning tyre strategy would prove to be the deciding factor during the race. From the start 4th place driver Barry Abbott would pull out a considerable lead in the early stages of the race, but with the track now drying rapidly tyre changes were required throughout the field. After the 30-minute long final it would be Devendra Mahatme bringing home a well deserved win from 7th on the grid in front of Philip Edward’s with Barry Abbott taking the final podium position in the closing stages of the race. GT8 would start in dry conditions, and would see Glyn Beal taking the lead early on and never looking back. Craig Woods progressed up the field to take 2nd with Jason Fox rounding out the top 3 respectively. Round 2 of the championship moves on to the iconic Mendip circuit on 18th May, theres still time to get your entries in via the BRCA website. Thanks to Barry Abbott for the report.
