JP Richards doubles at JC Indoor National Series Rd1

The first stop of the 2019 JConcepts Indoor National series was held this past weekend at Team Velocity R/C, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. The event brought in over 350 entries and after all three rounds of qualifying were complete on Saturday, it was Yokomo’s JP Richards taking the overall TQ honors in both the highly competitive 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy classes. In 2WD Modified Buggy, JP would keep his momentum going after qualifying by taking the convincing wins in A-mains 1 and 2, while leading every lap of both races to score his first title of the weekend.

2WD Modified Buggy top 3:
1. JP Richards – Yokomo/Muchmore/Muchmore/Muchmore
2. Mason Fuller – TLR/Reds/Reds/Reds
3. Spencer Rivkin – Team Associated/Hobbywing/Hobbywing/ProTek

In 4WD Modified Buggy, JP also made quick work of his competition y taking the wins in the opening two A-mains to take his second Title of the weekend!

4WD Modified Buggy top 3:
1. JP Richards – Yokomo/Muchmore/Muchmore/Muchmore
2. Mason Fuller – TLR/Reds/Reds/Reds
3. Cole Tollard – Team Associated/Reedy/Reedy/Reedy

Xray XB2 rearward linkage alloy steering plate

Coming from Xray and made for the XB2 series of buggies is a rearward linkage alloy steering plate. CNC-machined from high-quality 7075-T6 aluminium and coming black anodised and with a white Xray logo, the plate is of an updated design that utilises rearward linkage mounting for a more linear and thus predictable steering reaction. The plate allows for easy steering Ackermann adjustment and it is usable for both the carpet and dirt specification kits.

Albertoni & Easter win at Propo Off-Road Champs

The Track Hobby Shop and Raceway of Gaithersburg, Maryland hosted the East Coast KO Propo Off-Road Championship last weekend. In the premier 2WD Modified Buggy class it was Enzo Albertoni (Kyosho) with the overall TQ and he also went on to win the 6-minute A-main from Nathan Easter (Team Associated), who ended the race some 5.7s behind. Yokomo’s Jay Drakeford would come in 3rd, a lap down. In the 2WD 17.5T Buggy class Nathan Easter (Team Associated) took the TQ and he would lead the 6-minute main from tone to tone, taking a dominating win some two laps in front of Yokomo’s Kenny Kong as Team Associated’s Mike Sunderland completed the top 3 result in 3rd.

Schaffner Racing Products B6.1 shock tower plugs

Schaffner Racing Products have introduced their new front shock tower plugs for the Team Associated B6.1 buggies. 3-D-printed the plugs fir snuggly into the shock tower saver and prevent the unused upper shock mounting holes from clogging with dirt. Each package contains two sets of plugs to cover all standard hole positions and the plugs are available in black, blue or orange colour.

Xpress XM1 lowered aluminium shock towers

Coming for the Xpress XM1 and XM1S M-class touring cars are low profile aluminium shock towers. Both feature 1mm lowered shock mounting holes for improved stability throughout the corner with the sturdy alloy material providing less lateral flex compared to carbon fibre shock stays which further adds to improved stability during cornering on high-grip surfaces. The front and rear shock towers are available separately and they come with a black and red surface finish.

Collin Weatherholt doubles at Winter Series Rd3

The third round of the Winter Series was held at The Ohio RC Factory track in Jeffersonville, Ohio this past weekend. The event attracted nearly 110 entries for the 1/8th off-road and 1/10th SCT classes and in Pro Nitro Buggy it was Collin Weatherholt with the TQ and also the win in the 20-minute A-main, leaving behind Brandon Hogan in 2nd by a 12-seconds margin. Scott Kuchler would round out the podium a lap down.

In the Pro E-Buggy class, that was run in a double A-main format, it was again Collin with the TQ and he would also grab the overall victory thanks to wins in A1 and A2, leaving behind Brandon Hogan and Cody Hogle.

Dustin Evans sweeps Rumble in the Rockies

The annual Rumble in the Rockies race was held at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora, Colorado this past weekend. The race attracted some of the region’s fastest electric off-road racers and in the 2WD Mod and 4WD Mod classes it was Team Associated’s Dustin Evans who would lead the way, taking the TQs and wins in both categories. The 2WD Mod podium saw Xray’s Zac Gastelum finishing in 2nd and TLR’s Tyler Whitt coming in 3rd while Zeke Ballinger (TLR) and Andrew Kurtchi (TLR) completed the 4WD Mod Buggy top 3.

Over in the Modified Truck class it was Xray’s Zac Gastelum who would sweep the class by taking TQs in all four rounds. He would then also went on to win the single 8-minute A-main by 2-laps, leaving behind Team Associated’s Jarrod Stokes in 2nd and TLR’s Andrew Kurtchi in 3rd.

Monaco RC Diff Check Plus

Monaco RC have introduced their all-new Diff Check Plus, an updated design of the company’s original Diff Check differential hardness checker. The Plus variant is of a more versatile design thanks to its internal 9V batteries that allows to use the tool without the need of an additional power source, making for much easier diff action checks even in the starting grid or directly after a run. In addition to the internal battery, the Diff Check Plus is also usable with an external power source. The device was developed in Italy and it is housed in a sturdy case, machined from a single piece of aluminium and coming anodised for looks and wear. High-quality graphics make the Diff Check Plus stand out while a high-quality protective case ensures the tool stays nice and shiny. The diff checker comes with an adapter that allows you to measure stand-alone diff units while an array of optional adapters, from 1/12th up to 1/8th scale also makes diff checking of installed units possible.

Basile Concialdi wins at Brieuc Indoor Grand Prix

Last weekend’s Saint Brieuc International Indoor Grand Prix not only was held in 1/8th scale but also a 1/10th 200mm class. The special conditions of an indoor nitro track required some unusual adjustments and it was Shepherd’s Basile Concialdi who quickly found a good setup to win the opening qualifier ahead of Kévin Rasquin who came back to win Q2. Basile got it all together to win the the third and final round, improving Kevin’s time by over two seconds. In the half-hour long final Basile, despite the ever increasingly difficult track conditions, pulled a gap and took a strong win in front of Capricorn’s Thomas Guillon and Xray’s Anthony Stephan who completed the podium.
