CJ Hernandez wins at SoCal Desert Series opener

Rise Up HobbyTown of Palm Desert, California held the opening round of the SoCal Desert Series this past weekend. The race was held in several 1/10th electric modified and stock classes and in the 13.5T Wheeler class it was Nano Vandermolen with the overall TQ. In the single 6-minute A-main event however it was CJ Hernandez with the win, a narrow 0.450 seconds in front of TQ holder Nano. Victor Pitones would round out the podium in 3rd, some 21 seconds behind the top 2.

Tamiya Ford Mustang GT4 TT-02

Coming soon from Tamiya is the Ford Mustang GT4 TT-02 kit. Inspired by the Ford Shelby GT350R-C, the Ford Mustang GT4 has been designed and engineered jointly by Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports to compete in sports car championship racing series globally, including the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Pirelli World Challenge GTS/GT4, and GT4 European Series. The Tamiya Ford GT4 faithfully captures this sleek racing car as a 1/10 scale radio control replica. The highly-detailed polycarbonate body sits atop the easy-to-build Tamiya TT-02 chassis. The shaft-driven 4WD chassis employs a longitudinal layout with the battery on the left and the motor on the right, to give excellent stability. In addition, it features identical left and right suspension arms and uprights for ease of assembly, plus easy-to-maintain gearboxes. It is a highly adaptable chassis, as it offers two different wheelbases, two ground clearance settings and two tread set-ups in addition to a range of ten possible gear ratios. It is not short on looks either, with brake disc-shaped wheel hubs and stylish front bumper supports.

Charlie Menard wins GT12 class at Snowbird Nationals

Last week’s 2019 Snowbird Nationals saw the running of the growing GT12 class with CRC’s Brian Wynn thing the overall TQ after the qualifiers, leading the 29-car field. However after the single 6-minute A-main it was CRC’s Charlie Menard with the win after a spirited battle with teammate and TQ Brian Wynn as Mario Ficco rounded out an all-CRC top 3.

Yeah Racing TT-02 RWD adjustable rear arm mounts

Coming from Yeah Racing and made for their TT-02 RWD TATT-S03 drift conversion is an adjustable rear suspension mount. The design allows to easily access 1, 3.5, or 5 degrees toe-in setting with the teeth-meshed adjustments allow to achieve a symmetrical setting every time owners change the toe-in setting. The set includes the multi-piece RR hanger, machined from aluminium and coming blue anodised and with white markings for easy identification. Also includes are rear inner suspension shafts and small parts.

Kazuki Yamashita TQs & wins at 2019 Snowbird Nationals

The 2019 edition of the iconic Snowbird Nationals was held in Orlando, Florida last week. The race attracted the usual mix of national and international top drivers and in 1/12th GTP Modified it was Destiny’s Kazuki Yamashita from Japan, who took the overall TQ after the qualifiers in front of new Xray signing, Keven Hebert. In the single 8-minute A-main final Kazuki would hold the upper hand, taking the win from UK’s Ollie Payne (Roche) as Keven Hebert had to settle for 3rd overall. Xray’s Jan Ratheisky from Germany and multi-time Snowbird winner, Alexander Hagberg (Xray) would round out the top 5.

Brocca & Huber win at Swiss Indoor Champs Rd4

The Palapenz track in Chiasso played host to the fourth round of the Swiss Indoor Championship this past weekend. The race was held in several 1/10th and 1/12th scale touring and pan car classes and in the popular Formula category, attracting nearly 30 entries, it was Simone Brocca with the pole position after the qualifiers from Marco Donadelli in 2nd and Luca Marinelli in 3rd. After the triple A-mains the top 3 would remain the same, with Simone taking the win from Marco and Luca.

Over in the Swiss GT class it was Philipp Huber with the TQ and win, leaving behind Andi Frattaroli in 2nd and Simon Del Monego in 3rd.

In the Touring Modified class it was Oliver Krähemann (Awesomatix) with the overall TQ and he also swept the triple A-mains to take the day’s win in front of Yokomo’s Michele Manzo while Antonino Mangiaracina (Awesomatix) completed the top 3 results.

Over in the Touring Pro Stock class top qualifier, Sergio Pignataro lead an Awesomatix top 3 from Nicola Di Palma 2nd and Boris Siladi 3rd.

Kyle McBride joins Infinity off-road program

Infinity has announced the signing of world class 1/8th scale off-road racer Kyle McBride to its factory race team. The 4-time World Championship finalist brings his vast offroad racing experience to the 2-time On-road World Champion manufacturer and will assist them in growing their knowledge of the offroad competition scene. Running a 1/8th off-road programme under the Infinity team banner, the reigning 8-time Australian National Champion said:

I am really excited for the opportunity to be apart of the Infinity family and look forward to a very strong 2019 season! A very special thank you to Taira San for having me.

Ryan Maifield doubles at 1st annual Nitro Warm Up race

The Nitro Compound of Maricopa, Arizona held their 1st annual Nitro Warm Up race this past weekend. The race attracted both local talent and World Championship drivers and in Pro Nitro Buggy it was Mugen’s Ryan Maifield with the win from fellow Mugen racer, Mike Truhe. Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin would come in 3rd. Over in Pro Nitro Truggy it was again Ryan Maifield with the win as Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin came in 2nd and TLR’s Tanner Danney rounded out the podium in 3rd.

Xpress aluminium motor fan mount

Coming from Xpress is a lightweight motor fan mount for the XQ1 and XM1 series of cars. The CNC-machined and black anodised alloy mount screws directly into the existing rear lead weight mounting hole, sitting just behind the motor. The design prevents the fan unit from rotating on the mount while keeping the natural chassis flex intact and it is usable with the XQ1, XQ1S, XM1 and XM1S kits.
