Losi Baja Rey & Rock Rey RTR BND trucks

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:23 AM PDT

Losi have announced the soon release of their new Baja Rey and Rock Rey 4WD 1/10th scale BND kits. The proven Baja Rey desert truck is built on one of the most advanced chassis ever conceived for a ready-to-run vehicle. It comes equipped with a Dynamite 3800Kv brushless power system, as well as a long-travel suspension, so owners can tear across all types of terrain at speeds of 70km/h or more. The chassis design blends scale realism with functional 4WD capabilities. The foundation consists of a 3mm, anodised aluminium chassis plate that is integrated with a realistic roll cage made of super-tough composite material. To this it adds a long-travel, independent front suspension and 4-link live rear axle that look and function exactly like their full-scale counterparts. The single-speed transmission, as well as the front and centre diffs, are sealed against the elements and engineered to handle the abuse of a high-output brushless motor and punishing terrain. Mod 1 gears further increase the durability of this desert beast. The long-travel shocks soak up the energy from big bumps and jumps. They also feature threaded shock bodies with adjustment collars so owners can fine tune the pre-load settings of the coil-over springs. External bump stops provide plush landings on the hardest surfaces. The Rock Rey builds on the same chassis technology but comes with a rock racer body shell and larger 2.2” x 5.8″ wheels and tyres. Both vehicles come factory-assembled and including a Spectrum SRS6000 receiver with Active Vehicle Control, meaning owners can use an existing or choose a new Spektrum DSMR transmitter to get the trucks going in no time.

Features:
– 3mm anodised aluminium chassis plate
– Long-travel 4-link live rear axle
– Rugged shaft-driven 4WD
– Sealed metal gear differentials
– Coil-over oil-filled shocks with pre-load adjustment and bump stops
– Easy-access rear battery door
– Spektrum waterproof receiver with AVC technology
– Powerful Dynamite Fuze 3800kV brushless motor
– Dynamite 3S LiPo-capable 130A waterproof ESC
– Sealed single-speed metal-gear transmission
– Spektrum waterproof metal-gear steering servo
– Long-travel independent front suspension

Belgian Electric On-road Nationals Rd6 – Report

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 01:40 AM PDT

The HRT Houthalen track hosted round 6 of the Belgian Electric On-road Nationals recently with the event promising exciting races on this small and technical track. Saturday was sunny with a lot of grip. Everyone was looking for the right setup because the championship was absent for a couple of years from this track. In the Efra class newly-crowned champion Olivier Bultynck set the pace in the qualifying heats. Mitchel van Es put his car on the 2nd spot and youngster Athan De Witte was really fast to take the 3rd spot.

In the Stock class and because the championship isn’t decided yet, it promised to be super exciting. It was Patrick Prinsen who was the fastest in front of Vincent Van Gansen and Giovanni Moguez. The Formula class the title was already decided in favour of Olivier Bultynck but his new challenger Niels Meurs did not intend to let it pass like this. Ultimately Olivier took the pole in front of Liam Van de Wouwer and Niels Meurs who tried to find the best setup for his car. In the Rookie class, that more and more develops in to a fun class for veteran racers, it was Krist Bultynck with the pole position followed by Herman Van Gansen and Harry Coenen.

In the first and second Efra class A-main Olivier took easy wins with eight to nine seconds margin. Mitchel van Es came in 2nd, Rico Claeys 3rd and Athan De Witte 4th. Olivier then sat out the third final to not disturb the fight for the remaining podium spots. Athan De Witte took a very strong start and took the lead but unfortunate Mitchel hit him from behind and Athan lost several places. Due to this incident it became an unpredictable race. Steve Lambrechts started from 5th on the grid took the win in front of Rico Claeys and Mitchel van Es. The unfortunate Athan came back from last to 5th place. Overall the win went to Olivier Bultynck (Awesomatix) from Mitchel van Es (Awesomatix) and Rico Claeys (Schumacher) 3rd.

Patrick Prinsen took a big advantage in the first Stock final when Vincent Van Gansen made a mistake and touched Giovanni Moguez. Giovanni was so unlucky and had to come back from last place. Patrick took the win in front of Vincent and Xavier Debroye. It was nice to see the battle between Vincent and Giovanni in the second final. Patrick was strong and took the win but within a second Giovanni secured a 2nd place in front of Vincent. Patrick also took the third final, to prove his mastery on this track. Early in the race Vincent made two big mistakes and Giovanni took the 2nd place in front of youngster Alexander Van Gansen. Patrick Prinsen (Awesomatix) became the overall winner in front of Giovanni Moguez (Xray) and Vincent Van Gansen (Xray).

The opening two Formula A-mains were smooth sailing for Olivier and both finals saw nice battles between Liam Van de Wouwer and Niels Meurs – with the better end for Niels. In the third final Olivier made a mistake and Liam Van de Wouwer took a strong start. Because of the long eight minute runs Olivier had the chance to come back but Liam was able to take the win. Overall Olivier Bultynck (Shepherd) took the win from Niels Meurs (Roche) 2nd and Liam Van de Wouwer (Xray) 3rd.

In the Rookie class Herman Van Gansen took the win after some entertaining finals in front of Krist Bultynck and Luc Wauters.

Exotek TRF103 upper arm set & bearing adapter

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 12:58 AM PDT

Coming from Exotek and made for the Tamiya TRF103 formula kit are and adjustable upper arm set and metric to 1/4” axle adapter set. Starting with the upper arm set, the new multi-adjustable and heavy duty CNC-machined arms allow to make quick and precise camber and caster adjustments on the fly and even without taking off the body shell. The arm set is precision machined for the smoothest arm movement and offers incrementally more adjustment abilities than the stock arms and also there will be six less stock O-rings to possibly lose and fall apart. The set includes two 7075 alloy caster adjusters, two smooth action machined delrin camber adjusters, two alloy swivel balls for upper nylon arms, four 3mm roll centre spacers, four alloy 4.8mm pivot balls, four hardened steel 3mm turnbuckles and hardware as well as four heavy duty nylon ball cups.

Also new is the TRF103 metric to 1/4” axle adapter set with 1/4” bearings. The kit converts many formula cars from its stock metric bearings to easily accept 1/4″ rear axle sets and allows to install the new 1/4” spools and gear diffs now hitting formula tracks. The set includes two hard anodised 7075 adapters, two 1/4” bearings and one left side spacer. It was designed for formula cars that use normal 6x10mm axle bearings such as the F104, TRF103 etc.

Tamiya Toyota Hilux CC-01 truck kit

Posted: 03 Oct 2018 11:51 PM PDT

Tamiya have introduced their new Toyota Hilux CC-01 truck kit. The truck depicts the 8th generation of the Hilux vehicle, released back in 2015, specifically a special full-size version of the Extra Cab which Toyota’s British division had made in the colours of Tamiya’s legendary Bruiser as a tribute to their model.
