VRP MBX8 torsional carbon fibre arm inserts Posted: 21 Mar 2018 11:16 AM PDT VRP have just released torsional carbon fibre arm inserts for the Mugen MBX8 buggy. These are much different than typical carbon arm inserts as rather than flexing torsionally, they flex length wise, from hinge pin to hinge pin. This will help the suspension arm flex correctly, keep them from twisting under load when accelerating/decelerating, yet allow them to flex with the squat of the chassis. Overall, they will give more traction and a consistent feel compared to regular carbon or plastic inserts, thanks to using directionally laid carbon fibre plates. The parts are machined in house at VRP in Houston, Texas and are available in 0.8mm, 1.0mm, and 1.2mm thicknesses. Source: Vision Racing Products [visionracingproducts.com] |
Zen Racing front end suspension balls w/O-ring Posted: 21 Mar 2018 08:42 AM PDT Designed to improve the front end damping on LMP or RXGT12 kits are 6mm front suspension balls from Zen Racing. The O-rings inside, held by a slot, increase 1/8th king pin dampening and they hold the chosen dampening fluid against the king pin for a more consistent feel. Source: Zen Racing [zen-racing.co.uk] |
Schumacher CAT L1 1/10th 4WD buggy kit Posted: 21 Mar 2018 07:14 AM PDT Schumacher have introduced their latest contender for the competitive 1/10th 4WD buggy class in the form of the CAT L1. Developed in cooperation with Schumacher’s World Class drivers Michal Orlowski and Jörn Neumann, the L1 features a 3-gear centre transmission for opposite motor rotation, improving agility and steering on high traction surfaces as a lightweight layshaft and side gears make for reduced rotational masses. In addition, small, low rotating mass gear differentials with 3-position height adjustment allow to fine-tune driveshaft plunge for mixed track conditions. Another drivetrain gizmo is the FAB Front Adjustable Brake System with larger 22 tooth pulleys as a pinned and centre-mounted motor mount makes for a low overall centre of gravity. The buggy builds on a new 7075 aluminium chassis – with vertical top decks – to which the updated suspension is attached. New to the L1 are updated geometry wishbones, new rear hub carriers featuring new vari-length wishbone and hub geometry as well as revised front pivot strap inserts for front track width adjustment and nd new 8°, 10°, or 12° front rake adjustment. New big bore shock absorbers and an AEROX body and wing round out the all-new package. The car, that was used in prototype stages by Michal Orlowski to sweep the EOS rounds in Germany and Slovakia, is set for a release in April. New features: – Hard anodised 2mm 7075-T6 alloy chassis with 4mm carbon stiffeners – Wishbones with new improved geometry – Big bore shocks with big bore CORE springs, titanium nitride shafts, twin o-ring sealing, optimised shock body Source: Schumacher [racing-cars.com] |

HNMC Rock Crawling Grand Opening – Report Posted: 21 Mar 2018 12:54 AM PDT The Herts Nitro Model Club held their Rock Crawling Grand Opening recently and despite the terrible weather, snow blowing in the wind with sub-zero temperatures, the club had throughout the day 25 to 30 die-hard rock crawlers and scalers in attendance. After long discussions over the last few years about building a rock crawling course, John Geaves at the end of 2017 said he would take the lead on this project. John had been to the Fairlop Rock Crawling course and enlisted the help of their course builder, Neil Smith. The plan was to cater for Rock Crawlers and Scale Crawlers. Materials landed on site and John and Neil set at a rate of knots building the course and within a couple of months it started to look impressive. Then with the help of CML Distribution, Herts RC Models and Logic RC the date for a grand opening was set. HNMC would like to say thank you to Jason Huntley from CML Distribution and Stewart Wilcox from Logic RC who provided demos all day. Also a big thank you to CML Distribution and Logic RC for their ongoing support. The club looks forward to more crawler open days and improving the course and if it becomes popular extending it further. For further information you can contact HNMC at [email protected]. |
