JConcepts Fling Kings tyres & Dragon 2.6” wheels Posted: 28 Dec 2017 01:18 AM PST Made for the use with JConcepts’ Sling King Mega Truck body shell as well as comparable vehicles are the new Fling Kings 2.6” Mega Truck tyres and Dragon 2.6” wheels. The Fling Kings is the first true to scale, RC Mega Truck tyre, specifically designed to throw mud, dirt, gravel and grass just like the real thing. They are designed for the new JConcepts 2.6” Dragon wheel, making them even more scale in appearance. The bead of the tyre features a 3-step surface which provides a massive amount of area for glue to rest giving the utmost security for full-throttle mud runs. No details were spared on these mud runners, the V-type tread is replicated to a T and the top of the tread carries a slight recess adding a little touch of depth to the appearance. The soft blue compound which is recommended for dirt, grass and asphalt feels noticeably mushy and sticky and has expanding characteristics and tend to “pizza cutter” during flat out high-speed runs. The gold compound feels harder to the touch, excels on polished or hard surfaces and expands less during high-speeds. Fling Kings tires are complete and include open cell “React” inserts to support the grippy tyres. As for the Dragon 2.6” wheel, it is a purpose built 12mm hex mega truck wheel which fits the above Fling Kings tyres to perfection. The Dragon’s were used in concept and in conjunction with a fully licensed version of the 1:1 scale King Sling. The goal of scale size was achieved and built around a 2.6” mounting bead diameter. The width was matched to line-up perfectly with the Fling King tyres and the constraints of the wheel were underway. Like other monster wheels by JConcepts, a bolt-in hub adaptor was created to match a huge variety of trucks while also offering different overall widths to choose from. The bead of the wheel features a 3-step surface which provides a massive amount of area for glue to rest giving the utmost security for full-throttle mud runs. The Dragon wheel includes four off-set 12mm wheel adaptors. 11mm width for a stock Clod Buster or retro type Monster Truck width, 18mm for increased stability on vehicles such as the Stampede, Stampede 4×4, Rustler, Slash 4×4. The 25mm adaptor works well for monster truck racing and the Axial SMT10 and a newly designed 32mm for maximum ground pounding width. The adaptors are installed with 6×2.5x12mm screws and centres precisely on the wheel for positive engagement. The wheels include pre-cut polycarbonate discs which attach with 6x2x4mm screws and can be painted to match any scheme or mud runner. The wheel discs add a scale look and utilise a clever design not seen in this segment of RC. Also included is a pair of steel, serrated, 4mm thin pattern lock-nuts for greater security. The Dragon wheels are available in black and feature a slight matte finish but with the addition of the polycarbonate disc, can easily be detailed to be outrageous. JConcepts King Sling Mega Truck body Posted: 28 Dec 2017 01:04 AM PST JConcepts have introduced the new King Sling Mega Truck body shell. From the mind of Dennis Anderson, the wild and wooly King Sling was born. The ultimate Mega Truck, born in Poplar Branch, North Carolina, has a wild side, combining the brute power and durability of a monster truck with the madness of a mud racer. King Sling is a beast, and JConcepts has worked together with designers and builders to replicate this body shell to fit on a host of popular chassis including the Axial SMT10. The slate was once again wiped clean and the form started to take shape in the computer to fit and finish on a selection of vehicles. A lot of hand dressing took place to ensure the details were correct on the shell itself, not to mention the iconic wing shape and rear scoop treatment. Fred “Freestyle” Reep sat shotgun on this project reviewing the style, shape and decal creation to ultimately please the man, the myth the legend, Dennis Anderson. No superstar race machine would be complete without decoration. The King Sling is the first JConcepts body to include two decal sheets in the package that covers logos, signatures, flames and branding recognition. The product is formed in durable polycarbonate and includes painting window mask for ease of use. Fine detailing and trimming to the body shell comes from the purchasing enthusiast where the imagination and skill set takes over. The three piece body design offers the highest quality in detail giving the builder several options, replicating the original King Sling or even creating a unique RC Mega Truck identity. Included in the package are the clear King Sling body, painting window mask, rear wing, scoop, mounting hardware and decal set. Source: JConcepts [jconcepts.net] |
