Tekin RS Pro Black Edition ESC & Spec-R BL motors Posted: 24 Aug 2017 10:37 AM PDT Tekin have introduced their new RS Pro Black Edition brushless speed controller and Spec-R motors. Starting with the ESC, the RS Pro Black Edition was developed with ultra low internal resistance in mind to boost the performance of 1S and 2S-powered stock motors. This was achieved by utilising both hardware and software advances in combination with the Ultra Low Resistance ULR circuit design and ULR flex wires. The controller measures 24.5x33x17.25mm, it weighs in at 35g and it usable with 1S to 3S LiPo input and down to 13.5T motors. As for the Spec-R motor, it is based on the widely popular Gen3 motor platform, and brings new technology to the racetrack. Tekin’s ULR design with proprietary specifications and high grade materials make for ultra smooth control across a wide power band. The motor comes with the yellow high-strength rotor and it is available as 6.5T, 13.5T, 17.5T and 21.5T variant. Source: Tekin [teamtekin.com] |
JConcepts 1/8th & 1/10th tyre balancer Posted: 24 Aug 2017 09:21 AM PDT Coming from JConcepts is their new tyre balancer suitable for 1/8th and 1/10th scale tyre and wheel combinations. The collapsible design rests in a lay-down configuration but pivots to a 90 degree stance and locks when in usable condition. The centre point of any balancer are the bearings, the free spinning action rests inside the hub design. The interchangeable thumb nuts for 1/10th and 1/8th wheel versatility are located on the main axle which can be moved from its home base position to its critical balancing position with ease. The upright is built in aluminium material, anodised blue, etched with instructions and chamfered for that extra lustrous look. The base of the item is built to protect, position and maintain a small footprint at all times. The base has four stand-off legs to hold a steady structure while a thumb screw secures the upright in either the up or down position. The all-aluminium and steel design comes set in a storage box for protection and travel convenience. Source: JConcepts [jconcepts.net] |

Sidney Blokker wins Touring Modified at Dutch Nats Rd5 Posted: 24 Aug 2017 07:58 AM PDT Round 5 of the Dutch Electric On-road Nationals was held at the technical track of Deventer. The small track offers plenty of grip but also high kerbs which would play a major role in the race. The premier Touring Modified class is run according to EFRA rules and only a single set of Volante 36R tyres is allowed for the entire race. In Q1 and on new tyres, Mitchell Van Es (Awesomatix) took P1 in front of Florian Joos (Tamiya) and Sidney Blokker (Yokomo). Then Florian managed to win Q2 thanks to an error from Mitchell in the last lap but Mitchell stroke back and won Q3 in front of Sidney and Florian. This meant Mitchell would take P1 on the grid in front of Florian, Sidney, Rick van den Akker (Xray) and Niek Middelkoop (Xray). In the opening A-main Mitchell took the holeshot and thanks to the fight between Florian and Sidney, he was able to pull a gap. Sidney tried several times to pass Florian, but when they tangled, Rick took over P2. Sidney found his way past Rick while Mitchell took an uncontested win. Florian came in 3rd in front of Rick and Niek. A2 was almost a blue print of A1. Sidney elbowed his way past Florian and leapt in Mitchell’s slipstream when disaster struck. Sidney took the inner line coming to the fast left-hander in front of the rostrum and Mitchell tried to keep the door shut. Unfortunately both cars touched and while Sidney was able to take P1, Mitchell had an horrible crash into the concrete barrier. It not only shattered his right rear suspension but also his complete chassis. As for the results, the saw Sidney in front of Rick, Florian, Niek and Bram Lagerwey (Serpent). As Mitchell wasn’t able to fix his car the P1 slot was left unoccupied for the start of A3. Florian took the lead, and managed to win A3 despite immense pressure from Sidney as Rick took P3. The overall results had Sidney Blokker (Yokomo) taking the win from Florian Joos (Tamiya), Rick Van den Akker (Xray), Niek Middelkoop and the unfortunate Mitchell Van Es (Awesomatix). Rune Karlsen wins Norwegian 1/8th Buggy Champs Posted: 24 Aug 2017 06:45 AM PDT The Norwegian 1/8th Nitro Buggy Championships were held at the Hof MBK track last weekend. The biggest track in Norway offered a multi-surface layout with mostly dirt but an astro and a wooden corner, and also a paved stones section with made tyre choice critical. Nearly 50 drivers signed in and the weekend would kick off on Friday with the first practice sessions. During Saturday’s qualifiers Rune Karlsen took the overnight TQ from Bjorn Ivar and Yngve Brække Ulfset. Going into the main final a total of six drivers looked to be able to take the win, making it the strongest field in many years. From the tone, Rune would be in the lead followed by Daniel and Yngve. Some nine laps into the race Yngve made a mistake and let Rune and Daniel play a little before Rune started to push a little harder. His strategy worked out as Daniel made a mistake. Now Rune was on fire and just getting a bigger lead. 40 minutes in the final Rune had lapped everybody while Daniel was in 2nd place at that time, but Bjorn Ivar was faster and took over the 2 spot. In the closing stages Yngve got past as well as Daniel made a big mistake. Ultimately Rune Karlsen (Kyosho) would take the win from Bjorn Ivar Haug (Kyosho) 2nd and Yngve Brække Ulfset (Mugen) 3rd.
