Posted: 17 Jul 2017 06:16 AM PDT Round 4 of this year’s Speed King Tour was held at the Crest Speedway indoor carpet track. A new track layout built in the week prior to the event meant the locals had less of an advantage and the organisers also decided to enforce a control tyre rule with the new Rush carpet tyre being chosen for the event. In the premier Touring Modified class it was Yokomo driver and local hero, Yugo Nagashima with the TQ from Crest Speedway shop assistant Hayato Ishioka (Kyosho) and Infinity driver Akio Sobue in 3rd. Right from the start of the 7-minute A-main event, Yugo was chased by Hayato with the top 2 being a class of their own. Hayato tried to catch up on Yugo but a mishap of Ishioka gave Nagashima room to breathe. In the end Yugo would maintain the gap to bring home the win from Hayato in 2nd while privateer Toyoki Yamada completed the top 3 result. Elsewhere in the Touring Stock class it was Kazuki Yamashita with the win. The Speed King Tour now has a small summer break with the next round being held at the Twin Ring Honguu outdoor track on September 24th. Source: Speed King Tour [facebook.com] ![]() ![]() |

Hupo Hönigl doubles at Austrian EP Buggy Nationals Rd3 Posted: 17 Jul 2017 05:16 AM PDT The recent third round of the Austrian 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the MAC Traiskirchen track. Different from the previous two rounds, this race was held on a super high traction track with the abrasive surface and sugar treatment making for close racing. Xray’s Hupo Hönigl would TQ the opening two rounds of 2WD while up and coming Lucas Grainer (Team Associated) came out fastest in Q3 and veteran racer Peter Pinisch (Team Associated) won Q4. Overall this meant Hupo would take the pole position for the triple 2WD A-mains. Hupo had saved a set of new tyres for the mains following his early TQ and this would prove to be the right decision as he took wins in A1 and A2 to snatch the overall victory from Lucas Grainer in 2nd and Peter Pinisch in 3rd.
The 4WD class held a very close battle between Peter Pinisch and Hupo Hönigl right from the start. Peter would TQ two rounds while Hupo came out on top in the remaining two but the faster time in Q1 earned Peter the pole position for the A-mains. The finals then saw the fight between the two continue which allowed Thomas Diesslbacher to stay in touch with the top 2 drivers. After Peter and Hupo lost too much time in the battle, Thomas found himself in the lead that he would hold onto until the checkered flag. A2 again was dominated by a hard fighting top of the field but this time Hupo held the upper hand to bring home the win from Thomas. Going into the final A-main four drivers were in the mix for the overall win but ultimately Hupo would excel, taking home his second overall win of the weekend with Thomas and Peter rounding out the podium result.

The TO secured Michael the pole position for the A-main and saved him from having to attend the wet semifinals. At the start of the 30-minute A-main Michael was closely followed by teammate Traugott Schär but a flawless pace and a fast working pit crew kept him on top of things and so he was able to walk away with the win from Traugott in 2nd while Philipp Bühler in 3rd rounded out an all-Xray podium.

Bidovsky & Novotny win at Czech EP Off-road Nats Rd3 Posted: 17 Jul 2017 02:30 AM PDT Round 3 of the Czech 1/10th Buggy Nationals was recently held in Velke Opatovice. The 2WD qualifiers saw Xray’s Kaja Novotny coming out on top in front of Ales Bidovsky (Xray) and Marek Schiller (PR) and in 4WD it was the same trio of Kaja, Ales and Marek that obtained the top 3 spots. In the 2WD mains though it was Ales who excelled after Kaja either made mistakes or got taken out. Overall Kaja was still able to bring home a 2nd place from Marek in 3rd. In the opening 4WD A-main Kaja pretty much dominated the field on to fell victim of a mishap in A2 meaning the race for the overall win was on between him, Ales and Marek in A3. Ultimately and after a 3-horse race to the finish line it was Kaja with the overall win from Ales and Marek. Finally in the 2WD Truck class it was again Kaja with the TQ and win from his Xray team mates Marcel Dostak and Adam Skopalik. Source: Xray [teamxray.com] ![]() ![]() |
