JConcepts ReHab 1/8th buggy tyre Posted: 05 Jul 2017 07:30 AM PDT JConcepts have introduced their latest 1/8th buggy tyre, the ReHab. Based on its larger cousin, the Detox, the ReHab brings all the details of a successful tyre into a smaller tread package for smoother track conditions and consistent racing. The design revolves around the centre structure which has medium sized, dense lugs arranged in a stacked configuration. The lugs have strategically placed cuts and grooves to allow flex in dusty conditions to perform even if the track is deteriorating in a long main. The outer portion of the tread fits together like building blocks, with shapes placed together that nest well but also work together to flex laterally to provide steadfast side-bite. The tread tapers off cleanly to the outer side-wall giving a smooth transition during hard cornering. Included with the tyre, that is available in blue, green, black and R2 compound, are grey colour Dirt-Tech inserts. Source: JConcepts [jconcepts.net] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
Serpent SRX8 moulded rear uprights Posted: 05 Jul 2017 06:21 AM PDT Coming from Serpent and made for the SRX8 series of buggies are new moulded uprights. The rear hubs are designed to be a direct replacement for the aluminium parts if track conditions call for them as using the moulded parts over the more rigid alloy ones will result in increased grip especially in lower bite conditions. The hubs incorporate two arm length positions and they are usable with the old and new-style A-arms of the SRX8 and SRX8E. Source: Serpent [serpent.com] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
Dutch 1/8th IC Track Nationals Rd4 – Report Posted: 05 Jul 2017 05:45 AM PDT Round 4 of the Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals was held at the MACH Heemstede track for the first time in a couple of years. In the premier NK class Roy Bakker was the man to beat and he would take the TQ from Joey Sorber in 2nd, Martin Zevenhoven 3rd and Robbin Hertong 4th. In the main final and following a somewhat chaotic start, Roy took the lead from Joey, Martin and Robin. Later Martin would find a way past Joey and he would eventually take over the lead following a mishap of Roy. Unfortunately his lead wouldn’t last as he suffered an engine problem three laps later while Joey also encountered problems that lead to a DNF. Up front and after the 30-minutes final, Roy Bakker (Capricorn) would bring home the win some two laps in front of Robbin Hertong (ARC) while Benny Ciere (ARC) secured himself the final podium spot following a strong performance in the final. 1/8th NK class final results: In the slightly slower NOMAC category it was Max Kruse with the TQ from Freek van Delft, Tjibbe Keller and Peter Berkhout. In the final Max and Freek would be able to retain their qualifying spots while Tjibbe and Peter swapped positions, handing Peter the final podium spot by only about half of a second to round out an all-Serpent podium. 1/8th NOMAC class final results: Source: NOMAC [nomac.nl] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

Serpent SRX8 rear skid plates & alloy coupler Posted: 05 Jul 2017 02:18 AM PDT Coming from Serpent and made for the SRX8 nitro buggy are new rear skid plates as well as an aluminium gear coupler. Starting with the skid plates, the optional carbon fibre or aluminium parts are designed to be an option for the standard steel plate that is part of the kit. Both the carbon and alloy part are much lighter, resulting in a changed weight distribution. The plates are available separately and they include a new diff case gasket. Also new for the SRX8 buggy is a hard-coated 7075-T6 aluminium gear coupler. The part saves about 70 percent of weight compared to the standard spring steel coupler which results in improved acceleration and braking thanks to reduced rotational masses. Mikkelsen wins Norwegian Nitro Touring Series Rd3 Posted: 05 Jul 2017 01:29 AM PDT The third round of the Norwegian Nitro Touring Series was hosted by the Valdres Modellbilklubb on one of the more spectacular tracks of the series with its length of 205 meters and almost 3.5 meters of elevation change. The blazing sun brought high temperatures, making it a real challenge for both drivers and cars. In the opening qualifier André Roine took the win closely followed by Anders Mikkelsen, some 0.8s behind. Mikkelsen then managed to take the TQ by 1,4 seconds in the second round but it was the final round that decided the TQ spot. At first Christian Hovden beat Mikkelsen’s time by 0,001 of a second but Mikkelsen fought back and got the TQ with a margin of 1.1 seconds while also setting the fastest lap time of the day. In the following Superpole André Roine, Christian Hovden, Trygve Bull Freng, and Espen Myhre fought for the second direct spot in the A-main. It was a close affair with a margin of only 0.2 seconds from 1st to 4th and it was Roine who scored the fastest lap, only 0.038 seconds faster than Christian Hovden. The semifinals were then won by Trygve Bull Freng in front of Espen Myhre and Brede Isaksen. From the start of the A-main Mikkelsen struggled with a bad engine tuning which forced him to have an extra pit stop, dropping him from 1st to 9th. Roine took the lead but running into some fuel problems later on he lost the lead to Mikkelsen on lap 55. From there on Mikkelsen did’t look back and kept the lead for the rest of the final although heavy tyre wear made his car undrivable with one minute to go, but the gap over the rest of the field large enough and Mikkelsen took the victory. Starting from 9th place Hans Nikolaisen did an excellent job and claimed the runner-up spot while Brede Isaksen snatched the final podium spot starting from 5th on the grid. The win marked the third consecutive victory for Anders Mikkelsen and the second time in a row he also got the TQ and fastest lap of the race. With two round to go Mikkelsen is now leading the Norwegian Nitro Touring Series with 22 points in front of André Roine who is 54 points in front Trygve Bull Frengs. Daniel Kobbevik successful at Norwegian Buggy Nats Posted: 05 Jul 2017 12:21 AM PDT The third round of the Norwegian National 1/8th Nitro Buggy series was hosted by the KodalRC Club in hot weather conditions, making for a hard and dusty track. A total of 49 drivers signed in and in combination with a pretty easy track layout this would make for some close racing. During practice young Daniel Kobbevik (Xray) showed a great speed, setting the pace with the fastest run but as there was no reseeding, Daniel had some tough time in qualifying group six. In the qualifiers it was Mugen driver Morten Thorkildsen who set the pace, TQing three of the five 5-minute qualifiers to take the overall TQ. Kyosho pilot Rune Karlsen also showed very good speed as he took the two remaining qualifiers to line-up in 2nd. Usually-fast Bjorn Ivar Haug (SWorkz) struggled with engine issues and only qualified in 3rd. Elswhere Daniel Kobbevik only came in 6th place after a lot of issues in the qualifiers. The semifinal A was then won by Yngve Brekke Ulfseth (Mugen) in front of Morten Thorkildsen (Mugen) while in the semifinal B Daniel Kobbevik took a pretty easy win, despite having an engine flame-out. Rune Karlsen had really bad luck as his throttle servo broke, resulting in a DNF and so the runner-up after the qualifiers would not bump up into the A-main. The top 3 would be Yngve, Morten and Daniel and this set the stage for a pretty entertaining main final. Unfortunately and just five minutes before the start Daniel’s mechanics discovered a leaking carburettor and after calling a time-out they tried to get it changed and adjusted in ten minutes. Ultimately it would work out but Daniel had to line up on the back of the field. Up front and some four minutes into the race, Yngve had a flame-out after a hard landing and that pretty much ended his day. Bjorn Ivar Haug was promoted into the lead by about half a lap on the field while Daniel had managed to recover to 2nd, setting the sails to hunt down Bjorn. Daniel eventually got past Bjorn later and now he was opening a gap that got constantly bigger. When the young Xray driver was almost a lap in front he suffered another flame-out but thanks to his athletic pit crew he was back on track soon and still in the lead. With 44 minutes in the clock Daniel again suffered from an engine flame-out but thanks to his strong team Daniel won the 45-minute final with a 2-laps margin from Morten and Danny while Bjorn, who was running in 2nd place in the closing stages, suffered a broken shock and also a broken front arm, meaning he would have to settle for 4th overall. Final results: Thanks to Way to Win for the report. FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
