Serpent introduce new SRX8E & Project 4X optionals Posted: 04 Jul 2017 05:11 AM PDT Serpent have introduced new optional parts for the SRX8E 1/8th E-buggy and the Project 4X touring car kit. Starting with the buggy related part, new are carbon fibre saddle pack battery plates for the optional saddle pack battery layout. Cut from 2mm carbon fibre the plates are an optional replacement for the standard mounts, offering improved stiffness and thus making a good alternative when more chassis rigidity is needed. The set is a direct replacement and it is available now. Next up and made for the Project 4X touring car is a short chassis stiffener. Designed to create more torsional flex, the short stiffener acts as a connecting point for the servo mount and the front topdeck stiffener. It can only be used in combination with a topdeck, either the new double vertical topdeck or the standard flat topdeck. It also saves a considerable amount of weight. The short stiffener is also compatible with the new topdeck stiffeners, however a 4mm shim is needed between the rear topdeck stiffener and the motor mount in this case. Last but not least comes a new narrow bumper plate that locates the body mounts more towards the centre of the chassis which can be useful for certain types of bodies. Martin N.O Hansen takes Danish 1/8th IC Track title Posted: 04 Jul 2017 01:15 AM PDT Last weekend the 2nd round of the Danish Nitro On-road Championship was held at the small and technical track of the Odense RC Minirace club. In the 1/8th class it was again Martin N.O Hansen who set the pace, claiming the TQ position by winning all four qualifying rounds. Bo Nielsen lined up in 2nd and Henrik Christensen had to settle for the 3rd spot. Going into the 30-minute final Martin looked unbeatable, but Rasmus B. Nielsen had a rocket start from P4 and was right behind Martin on the first lap. The first four minutes saw a close battle between the two and the gap was only about 0.8 seconds. Later Martin hit a curb and went into the grass which gave Rasmus a comfortable lead that he was maintaining well. Martin was pushing in 2nd place, trying to catch up with Rasmus but the latter was able to even lap Martin, whose pit crew then decided to change the strategy, sending out Martin on different tyres. Pushing his car to the maximum Martin set a new track record while up front an unfortunate Rasmus had to retire with gearbox issues with six minutes left in the race. This allowed Martin N.0 Hansen (ARC/Novarossi/Contact) to cruise to the win some five laps in front of Bo Nielsen (Infinity/Orcan/Matrix) in 2nd and Kasper Eliasen (Shepherd/Novarossi/Contact) 3rd. With the win, Martin also secured the overall title for 2017. Thanks to Martin N.O Hansen for the report. ![]() ![]() |
RC Maker Awesomatix carbon tweak stick Posted: 04 Jul 2017 12:40 AM PDT New from RC Maker is the carbon fibre tweak stick for the Awesomatix A800 and A700 touring cars. Featuring a full carbon fibre construction, it is lightweight and disassembles for easy transportation. The tweak stick aids to pin the car down onto a flat surface with a single hand, whilst tightening the top deck screws with your other hand. Due to Awesomatix’ unique design not having shock towers, the tool utilises extension plates which exert even pressure onto the bulkheads left and right, front and rear. The design locates the extensions onto the bulkhead using locating lugs, which makes it quick, easy and accurate to use. Thick O-rings simply locate the extensions in place, which can be adjusted to suits the driver’s needs. Not requiring removal of anything to use, the strong carbon tube clears all spur gear sizes, as well as the antenna tube and belt tensioner. The tool fits both AM19-2 and AM19-4 upper bulkhead caps on the A800, and all top-deck configurations on the A700 without diff covers. Source: RC Maker [rcmaker.com.au] ![]() ![]() |
