Posted: 12 Jun 2017 09:16 AM PDT The Schumacher BTCC series Rd3 moved on to the midlands based Stafford track this weekend. Over the four classes there were some epic battles across the board. In modified the usual suspects Olly Jefferies, Elliott Harper and Chris Grainger were battling it out for top spot in what were tricky conditions for the high powered cars. Super high winds and lower traction after overnight rain made it tough for the competitors. Olly pipped Elliott for overall TQ by less than a second after the tie break of two wins each, Chris Grainger qualified third. In the two legged finals Olly took the wins ahead of Elliott with Zak Smith coming from 4th on the grid up to 3rd overall. 13.5T open class with boosted timing from the ESC saw battles resuming as we have seen all season between the Schumacher and Xray teams. Zak Finlay took the overall win this time from the Schumacher’s of Andrew Robson and Chris Gunter. 13.5T Blinky was dominated by Jason Butterfield, taking TQ and both leg wins. Schumacher’s own Mark Musgrove was 2nd and Gareth Hollis 3rd. 17.5T Blinky class was again dominated by Jakub Plechac TQing and winning with a fine meeting from Adrian Sully netting second and Alan Harrington 3rd. Jokerteam GT12 Championship Rd4 – Report Posted: 12 Jun 2017 02:10 AM PDT With track temperatures reaching 57°C degrees during the afternoon’s finals, the drivers who gathered in Bolzano (Italy) for the fourth round of the Jokerteam 2017 GT12 Championship struggled to find the right setup for their cars in order to allow the tires to last the whole 6 minutes of each A-main. With the Championship being at the half-way mark and Mattia Dall’Oca being able to deliver a hat-trick in the previous rounds, bets were on in the pits to see if the Team Schumacher driver was able to make it four in a row. While the qualification rounds held during the morning did not deliver any particular surprise, with Mattia taking the TQ ahead of Johnny Orsolin (Jokerteam), it was in the afternoon’s finals that the action got under way: a wrong choice of tires by Mattia, saw both Johnny and Alessandro Giubbilei (Jokerteam) take advantage of the situation in the first A-main. In the second final, Mattia and Johnny engaged in a wheel-to-wheel battle for the whole 6 minutes when finally Mattia came out on top for just 0.2s. In the third and crucial A-main, it was again a tight battle between the two contenders, but Mattia was able to pull away in the final minute of the race and thus secure the fourth win in a row in the Championship, which it looks more and more secure in his hands. Dominic Quek takes rd6 of Urban Touring Series Posted: 12 Jun 2017 02:04 AM PDT Round 6 of Singapore’s Urban Touring Series saw a bigger than normal turnout this past weekend. With most of the top Singapore drivers participating, Dominic Quek (Xray) was made to work for his 5th win of the season. The morning’s seeding practice saw Leonard Sim (Awesomatix), who finished 2nd in Round 5, state his intentions when he put in the quickest 3-lap run. PY Tang (ARC), making his first appearance of the year in the series, would be seeded 2nd just 0.062 secs behind, while series leader Dominic was seeded 3rd. In qualifying however, Dominic upped his game and managed to win the first 2 of the 3 scheduled rounds of qualifying by about 3 secs each time to secure an early TQ. Leonard would start P2 in the A-main, with Alvin Koh (Tamiya) in P3. With the very technical and tight layout, starting in pole position worked to Dominic’s advantage in the finals. In A-main Leg 1, racing incidents in the chasing pack left him to take a comfortable 1-lap win. Alvin finished 2nd while Hasron Robana (Xray), who started in P5 took a surprise 3 rd . In Leg 2, Dominic and Leonard started well and pulled away from the pack. Dominic however lost the lead to Leonard when he had to swerve to avoid another car that had hit a pipe and suddenly landed in front of him. A robust overtaking move however saw Dominic regain the lead. Alvin put in some pretty impressive racing to overtake Leonard a few laps later to take 2nd. Hasron benefitted from contact between PY and Leonard a few laps later to inherit 3rd. With Dominic sitting out leg 3, it would be a slug-fest to see who would secure the remaining podium spots. When the dust had settled, it was Hasron who took the win, showing that it was sometimes an advantage to be racing just behind the leaders. With that Hasron finished overall 2nd, while Alvin secured 3rd. A-Main Overall Results B-Main Overall Results C-Main Overall Results Source: Urban PlaySpace FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |
