Creation Model introduce new Infinity 1/8th option parts Posted: 18 May 2017 04:29 AM PDT Coming from Creation Model is a range of optional parts for their popular Infinity 1/8th nitro on-road kit. First up is a front body mount set consisting of a carbon fibre front body mount plate and new 8mm diameter aluminium body posts. The assembly will make for improved stiffness which results in optimised downforce while six different mounting positions for the body posts further increase set up possibilities. Both the plate and the body posts are also available separately. Next up is a carbon fibre upper deck stiffener brace. It will reinforce the front end of the car which can be a helpful set up tweak in certain track conditions. Included with the brace comes suitable mounting hardware. Also new are 64mm steering rods. They offer a wider range of adjustment while an added hole allows for easier and more convenient set up changes. Last but not least is a 2-piece set of flanged 7.8mm aluminium pivot balls. Weighing in at only 2.4g the balls scrub a good amount of weight and they not only fit the Infinity car but also a range of other brands. Another universal accessory is the carbon fibre 1/8th body stiffener set. Containing a 1-piece rear bridge and also a total of four side wall stiffeners, the set fits many of today’s 1/8th on-road body shells and using it will greatly improve the structural integrity of the body, resulting in less wobbling and more efficient aerodynamics. The set weighs in at 13.5g in total, it includes plastic mounting rivets and both the side wall stiffeners and the rear bridge are also available separately. Kum Yew wins 4WD class at NOOB race Posted: 18 May 2017 03:58 AM PDT The recent NOOB race in Singapore was once again held on a loose dirt track, making for completely different traction conditions after the previous day’s Urban Astro Buggy Champs held on astro turf. Xray’s Kum Yew secured the TQ honours while teammate, Dennis Chiang would line up on the 2 spot on the grid. In the finals, Kum Yew got off to a bumpy start when a collision at the new step down feature dropped him down the field. Mark Lim capitalised to take the lead, with Danny Png in 2nd and Dennis in 3rd. With Kum Yew suffering a DNF, the race finished in that order. In leg 2, while Kum Yew led off the start, he lost the lead to teammate Dennis after a coming together with a back-marker. Calm and measured driving saw Kum Yew regain the lead from Dennis that he would hold onto for the win. This set up an exciting showdown for the final leg with three drivers still in contention for the overall win. After a clean start, the pair of Kum Yew and Dennis led the field around. With growing confidence, Kum Yew put in consistent laps to pull away from the field. However, traffic at the tight step down feature caught Kum Yew out once again and allowed the chasing pack to close in on him. Kum Yew once again dug deep and managed to complete the rest of the final mistake-free to win leg 3 and secure a hard-fought overall win. Dennis recovered from a rough final to finish overall 2nd, while Mark Lim was overall 3rd.
