This Sunday morning the final round of qualifiers was held at the opening round of the 2017 Asian Onroad Championships in Shanghai. With the track grip suited to more his liking, Creation Model Ltd.’s Akio Sobue would reset the TQ time in the Modified Touring Car class and secure the top spot on the grid laying down the fastest run in Q3. Xray’s Alexander Hagberg would earn the 2nd grid spot delivering his fastest time in Q3 and move Naoto Matsukura down to 3rd. The 5-time World Champion made a fatal mistake in Q3 which ended his run prematurely.

Taking his 3rd TQ out of 6 classes, Xray’s Jan Ratheisky keeps his TQ from yesterday by improving his time in Q3 in the 13.5 Boosted Sedan class. Moving up the grid and significantly improving his results was Xray’s young gun, Nicholas Koh. Also able to use the good track in Q3 and improve his qualifying results was Jerry Dai. Dai would go on to secure the 3rd spot on the starting grid.

With a much faster track today, the field would be shaken up with many drivers improving their times from yesterday. However, keeping the coveted TQ spot in the Blinky Stock Sedan class was Xray’s own Jan Ratheisky. Ratheisky would be followed by his Xray teammates of Jimmy Qian and the young and talented Nicholas Koh will start 3rd after a blistering Q3 run.

Xray’s Alexander Hagberg came alive in the final round of qualifying in the 1/12th scale modified class to earn the overall TQ. With the track must faster today, Hagberg blitzed yesterday’s TQ time to lock up the front of the grid and better his chances at the overall. Yokomo’s Toshi Yanagisawa would also improve upon his time to earn 2nd on the grid. Yokomo’s Toto Ebukuro, unfortunately had issues in Q3 that left him unable to improve his time on a much faster track.
