Xray XB4 2017 1/10th 4WD buggy kit Posted: 07 Dec 2016 09:08 AM PST Xray have made their IFMAR World Championship winning XB4 platform future-ready with the introduction of the 2017 edition. The kit features updates to details such as the floating servo mount that allows for left and right hand servo mounting. The multi-piece part is made up using an inner aluminium bracket and a swappable carbon fibre upper plate and its design does not interfere the natural flex of the aluminium chassis. Next up is a new carbon fibre rear chassis brace that attaches to the rear composite material chassis backbone, with the carbon part making for added stability while allowing to adjust the rear chassis flex using Xray’s Multi-Flex technology. Another new carbon fibre part is the 3.5mm front shock tower that offers additional shock mounting positions for added fine-tuning ability. Also part of the updated suspension package are precision-moulded 2×1.6mm and 2×1.7mm Delrin shock pistons and also shorter shock springs that allow for better ride height adjustment especially when racing a reduced ground clearance on high-bite carpet tracks. The updated suspension package is rounded out by a set of hard-compound lower A-arms, caster blocks and rear hubs all of which add stability in high-grip conditions while also upping corner speeds. New with the 2017 variant of the XB4 are also ultra-lightweight 12mm 7075-T6 aluminium wheel hubs. The clamping design parts securely stay in place even when the wheels are off while the precision machining reduces wheel wobble. New for 2017 are also updated 12mm hex rims that are moulded using a specially-formulated material for improved grip and exceptional durability. The package is rounded out by new hard composite chassis side guards that allow the use of hook and loop tape to mount the bodyshell for improved dust and dirt protection. JConcepts 8ight 4.0 S2 bodyshell Posted: 07 Dec 2016 08:29 AM PST Made for TLR’s 8ight 4.0 buggy is JConcepts’s latest Silencer S2 bodyshell. Influenced by JC’s S2 1/10th buggy bodies the 1/8th scale variant sports a forward cab, low-profile stance with channeled roof and rear stabilizing fin. The front of the pods have a deep pocketed “force-bars” which have shown to channel some air in a much needed forward position while also providing a more rigid feel to the body. The low-profile side-pods whisk over the electrics and step where necessary, but its the rear wicker section that improves rear-end grip and tightens up the handling. The unique engine compartment adds some innovation to the design and the prefect resting place for the engine head. The channeling directs the air just along the engine and cooling head while still maintaining a very structured look. The clear body set includes window masks and a decal sheet and it is a direct fit to the 4.0. Source: JConcepts [jconcepts.net] FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pin It |

Ryan Lutz wins Pro Nitro Buggy at 2016 Fall Brawl Posted: 07 Dec 2016 01:19 AM PST The 2016 edition of the popular Fall Brawl race was held this past weekend at Badlands in Myrtle Beach with over 550 entries. The track was very fast overall with lap times dipping to 21 seconds and the surface stayed very smooth. The conditions however were ever changing and the paramount tire choice was the hardest part of the racing. In Pro Nitro Buggy Mugen’s Cole Ogden would take the overall TQ from Tekno RC’s Ryan Lutz. Main day Sunday started at 7am and the program was shortened throughout with shorter mains so the organisers and driver could try to beat the incoming rain. The A-main started and Ryan Lutz crashed after shorting the first double and fell to 9th on the first lap. He quickly moved up to 4th and then both third and second let him by as he came up on them and Lutz set his sights on Ogden who was 5 seconds up. A couple laps later Cole got into a crash and Ryan just moved past him into the lead. Ogden eventually had to come in for a tire change as his was coming unglued so now Ryan worked up a 5 second lead ahead of Noah Dickerson about 7 minutes in and that seemed to be the same cushion for the next 10 minutes as Noah stayed on Ryan’s pace. After the last stop though Ryan suddenly had a 14 second lead and eventually he found himself right behind Noah on the last two laps. Lutz wanted to put him a lap down and he knew Noah wanted to stay on same lap and Dickerson fought him off hard and Lutz couldn’t get past and so Ryan Lutz came home with just under a lap victory from Noah Dickerson (Mugen) second and Griffin Hanna (Serpent) third while top qualifier, Cole Ogden had to settle for fourth overall.
