JConcepts B6 / B6D carbon towers & steering arms

JConcepts have introduced a new line of carbon towers for the popular Team Associated B6 / B6D. The 4mm thickness, genuine carbon fibre material is durable, light-weight and features the JConcepts milled sections which help maintain strength while minimizing weight. Available up front for the flat arm and the gullwing arm, as well as the a replacement rear tower, all maintain the 3 standard shock positions for quick and steady adjustments. The front towers feature the JConcepts treatment of a milled logo and identification for suspension arm type. Also new are a set of front steering arms, made from lightweight 2.5mm carbon fibre, which are symmetric so they can be used on either side of the vehicle and can be neatly installed with the standard kit hardware.

Picco V1 & R1 3.5cc competition nitro engines

Picco have introduced their new high-end competition nitro engines in the form of the V1 Team DLC CER off-road and R1 Team DLC CER on-road engine. Starting with the off-road power plant, the V1 is the brand’s new top-of-the-foodchain engine and already achieved the Italian National Championship title in prototype stages in the hands of Marco Baruffolo. The engine features a new crankcase that is designed to be stiffer so that the absence of torsion allows for a more stable performance at any temperature while preventing RPM loss. On top of a 5-port sleeve, the V1 also features a longer stroke and a new crankshaft that received a DLC-coating treatment to ensure a very low crankpin wear while protecting the shaft from oxidations of any kind for a long life of the part. The carburettor now sports a double bottom-end adjustment for finer tuning and a better mixture flow, and the engine’s main bearing is of a high-quality ceramic type.

Swinging over to the R1 Team DLC CER on-road engine, the power plant is the brainchild of Edo Picco and former World Champion Robert Pietsch. Featuring a redesigned, stiffer crankcase, the R1 also sports a double bottom-end adjustment carburettor for finer tuning and improved mixture flow. The crankshaft features an all-new DLC coating and, while being fitted with a ceramic ball bearing, the crankcase also sports smaller upper fins to allow the laser engraved, aluminium cooling head to sit lower on the engine for a lower overall CG. The engine is rounded out by a 7-port sleeve paired with a piston machined from high silicon material.

Jack Embling wins at Irish Astro Cup

The Irish Astro Cup was held at the Navan circuit, Ireland in sunny yet slightly cold weather. The race format was three rounds of practice on Saturday followed by three qualifiers and another two qualifiers on Sunday with bump-up finals and an EP final concluding the day. Jack Embling TQ’d the 1st round with local hero and top Irish driver Bradley Baird 2nd. The next round Brad would use his local knowledge to good use and TQ so it was all even. Brad TQ’d again in the 3rd round so he would be last in the reversed grid for the Dash for Cash.

Dash for Cash was a great close race with Brad and Jack swapping the lead from the first lap. Jack pulled a gap then Brad would close in then in the closing laps Jack made an error and lost the lead for Brad to take the cash. Sunday and Jack had to TQ the last two rounds to take the overall TQ. With a few bobbles Jack managed to take both rounds and secure the TQ overall. In the main event Jack took the lead from the get go and looked comfortable pulling a good lead with Ryhs up to second early on, Brad pushing hard for 2nd taking it from Ryhs, then Gary Baird moving up to 3rd place only to have an engine cut mid race, Ryhs getting 3rd back. The last couple of fuel stops and Brad had a cut making Jacks lead more comfortable, while Ryhs was battling the cold and Gary again for 3rd Ryhs having trouble feeling his throttle finger. Then Gary had another cut 2 minutes from the end and was unable to get it restarted, a shame because these two were having a good battle for 3rd. Ultimately Jack took the win from Bradley Baird and Rhys Herd.

Takumi Matsuda wins at PGTC GP Series finale

The final round of the Japanese PGTC GP Series saw Serpent driver Takumi Matsuda walking away with the win in the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class. Takumi set the pace right from the start and he would end the A-main one lap in front of Shoki Takahata (KM) in second and Shinnosuke Yukoyama (Mugen) in third.

HB Racing tease new 1/8th E-buggy

HB Racing have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming new 1/8th scale buggy. With no engine cooling head visible the bets are that the image is showing the long-awaited E817 E-Buggy that David Ronnefalk drove to EFRA 1/8th E-Buggy European Championship honours earlier this year. We bring you more information on the subject as soon as they surface.

Cody King takes JBRL Nitro Series Expert Buggy title

The final round of the JBRL Nitro Series was held at the Pro-Line test track last weekend and the event saw former IFMAR World Champion, Cody King walking away with the overall title in the Expert Buggy class. Jeremy Kortz came in second overall with Shaun Kirkman rounding out the podium result in third.

Arrowmax sign World Champion David Ronnefalk

Arrowmax have announced the signing of Sweden’s David Ronnefalk to their team. The 2016 IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion will be using the company’s range of tools and accessories and he joins an already high-class team of drivers such as Ronald Völker, Shin Adachi or Jörn Neumann. The HB Racing factory driver has the following to say about the deal:

I’m very happy to say that I will from now on be using tools and other accessories that Arrowmax has to offer. Well known for the unique design and good quality the tools are also very light which is good for travelling. As I have been using them since one week, I can tell you that they are awesome! XRS Slovakia Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Xray Racing Series Slovakia was held this past weekend at the world-famous Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin, Slovakia. The event attracted more than 130 drivers to compete in several electric on-road and off-road classes and the weekend kicked off on Friday with free practice. The Slovakian Series saw some rules updates for this season with Hudy tyres mandatory for all Touring classes as well as hand-out Hobbywing motors for the Stock and Formula categories. In the Touring Modified class the TQ position was obtained by Martin Hudy who won the qualifiers from young Oliver Havranek and Nico Haider. In the finals the top 3 would retain their positions with Martin Hudy taking the win from Oliver and Nico (all Xray).

The class attracting the most drivers was Touring 13.5T Stock with many fast national and international racers in attendance. Up and coming Oliver Havranek (Xray) grabbed himself the pole position for the A-mains from Tono Sloboda (Xray) and Peter Loncsar (Yokomo). In the final, Oliver again excelled and he took the win from Peter and Tono who swapped positions compared to the qualifiers.

The 21.5T Formula class showed competitive and great racing and it was Martin Hudy (Xray) who set the pace and took the TQ from Andrej Vnucko (Xray) and Peter Loncsar (VBC). In the finals and after fair battles it was Martin Hudy to come out fastest from Andrej and Peter.

In the 1/10th Pan Car class the overall TQ went to Andrej Vnucko in front of Rudo Kadlecik and Vladimir Viskup (all Xray) and in the finals the drivers finished in the same order as they finished in during the qualifiers, handing Andrej the win from Rudo and Vladimir.

The 1/12th Modified class saw Tomas Liptak (Xray) TQing in front of Robin Kaiser and Branislav Panak and also in the finals it was Tomas who came out on top. Behind him Clemens Toscani (BlackArt) and Vladimir Viskup (Xray) rounded out the podium result.

A new class in Slovakia, 1/12th GT had Andrej Vnucko grabbing the TQ from Igor Liptak and Branislav Panak (all Xray). After some close battles in the finals, the three would retain their positions on the podium.

In the 2WD Buggy class Xray’s Martin Bayer took the pole position and also the win with Ales Bidovsky and Max Gotzl taking the podium placed behind him.

In 4WD Buggy it was again Martin who lead the proceedings while Ales Bidovsky and Max Gotzl fought for the runner-up spot. Ultimately Ales would hold the upper hand over Max in third.

Another new racing class at the XRS is Stadium Truck. Martin Bayer was again the man to beat and he would take the win from Max Gotzl and Juraj Hudy (all Xray).

Andreas Thrasyvoulou wins LRCC Championship Rd3

The third round of the LRCC Championshipn was held at the AG Metal Off-Road Track in Limassol, Cyprus in excellent weather conditions and on a re-built track. Xray driver Andreas Thrasyvoulou would take the TQ after the qualifiers and he also came out on top of the proceedings after the main final to take the day’s win from the Agama duo of Simos Tikkis and Sotiris Taifas.
