Xray XT2’21 1/10th 2wd Stadium truck Posted: 22 Dec 2020 05:24 AM PST Xray have presented their new for 2021 XT2’21 2wd stadium truck. An evolution on their ROAR national winning truck, the car sports an all new chassis plate, side guards and incorporated graphite side guard braces for more stability and improved predictability. The all-new tweak-free battery holder allows for fast battery position adjustment and no negative effects on chassis flex or traction, while the new super-narrow ultra-low CG gearboxes offers quick & easy diff access. Other new parts include the LCG gearbox, diff height adjustment, new supper narrow ball diff or large volume gear diff depending on the version you choose, dirt or carpet edition. All-new 2021 Chassis Multiple prototypes chassis were evaluated during development, testing for the best mix of stiffness, targeted flex characteristics and weight. The final version was selected for its responsiveness, balance and improved traction and stability. The new XT2 chassis incorporates the updated layout, chassis reliefs and bent sides used by XRAY in the XB2 buggy platform in a long wheelbase version for the stadium truck. The rear section of the chassis is narrowed with chamfered edges for greater suspension clearance. CNC-machined from high-quality 2.5mm Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium, the lightweight chassis retains the necessary strength and rigidity, and is black coated at XRAY’s own in-house fully robotic coating line. The new chassis is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Side Guards The new side guards integrate with the bent chassis to provide additional support for the chassis plate and serve the dual purpose as mounting points for the front chassis stiffening plates and the new adjustable battery holder system found in the XT2’21 truck. The side guards are also universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Side Guard Braces The new graphite side guard braces with redesigned shape make the front of the truck more stable and predictable. Three flex settings are available by installing different combinations of the mounting hardware between the braces and side guards to alter the vehicle stiffness. Battery Holder All-new tweak-free fully adjustable battery holders are integrated into the side guards allowing easy and fast battery position adjustments, as well as simple battery installation through the smart quick-release system. The battery pack is easily moved front/rear to adjust the balance of the XT2. If needed, the rear motor brace can be removed and the battery pack moved completely rearward to maximise the rear weight bias and generate extra traction on the rear suspension. The height of the battery backstop is also adjustable for different battery sizes. The battery holder is mounted to the chassis through one connecting screw on each side brace to eliminate any negative effects on chassis flex. The battery holder is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Gear Box New to the XT2, the super-narrow, ultra-low CG gear box (LCG) features quick & easy diff access. The new narrower design of the gear box reduces weight and moves all parts closer to the chassis centreline. Gear box – for front motor position – keeps more weight over the front axle for improved steering and corner speed on high grip surfaces. Included in the Carpet and Dirt edition. Diff Height Adjustment The gear box features a new differential height adjustment. There are 6 height adjustment positions available using the included eccentric bushings. The ideal position will vary depending on the track conditions, ride height and the size of the tires used. Easy Diff Access The completely redesigned LCG gear box features super easy access to the differential. Now both XT2D and XT2C trucks benefit from the super easy diff access by removing only 6 screws. The LCG gearboxes incorporate all the finest details and craftsmanship. All parts fit together perfectly, and the super-easy access to the rear differential will be appreciated by every racer. The durable gear box houses the differential with all the transmission components and serves as the mounting point for the rear roll centre holder, motor plate, and rear shock tower. Motor Mount Brace The redesigned motor mount brace ensures optimum flex via a pivot ball mount that ensures side flex for increased traction. The design of the XT2 chassis also allows removal of the motor mount brace to increase flex and to move the battery pack further to the rear to position more weight over the rear axles for improved rear traction. The motor mount brace is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Gear Differential The all-new LCG gear differential was completely redesigned. The differential case has greater internal oil volume to increase consistency of the diff action, yet it is significantly narrower to fit into the new LCG gear box and to move the rotating weight closer to the centreline. The super-smooth gear diff uses a composite case and cover with internal satellite gears that are precision-moulded from special XRAY-developed graphite composite material, ensuring a long lifespan and super-smooth, efficient operation. The gear differential tends to increase on-power steering and is suggested for medium to high traction conditions and carpet tracks. The gear differential is included in the Carpet edition. Ball Differential The LCG ball differential was redesigned for the new transmission dimensions. The narrower design fits the narrow gear box and includes all the improvements learned from extensive testing of previous versions for smoother differential action to increase traction. The redesigned ball differential offers improved performance, durability, and easier maintenance. The externally adjustable ball differential is machined from HUDY Spring Steel and is additionally hardened for extra durability and a longer lifespan. A high-quality carbide thrust bearing and carbide balls are included for ultra-smooth operation. The outdrive adapters are designed for use with 2.5mm pin drive shafts. The ball differential included in the Dirt edition as the suggested choice for most dirt tracks and for bumpy astro tracks. Slipper Clutch Power from the motor is transferred to the drivetrain via an externally adjustable slipper clutch for quick & easy tuning. The all-new slipper clutch components were redesigned to accommodate the new LCG gear boxes and refined for different track conditions. The lightweight slipper plates are machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 and additionally hardened before a final black surface treatment. The plates have a machined relief which decreases the friction surface to assist with clutch slip adjustment. With this plate design, pressure is focused on the circumference of the clutch pads for increased efficiency. The slipper pads are made from ultra-efficient SLS material with very-high slip efficiency, thus allowing very precise slip adjustment. There are two different slipper clutch designs available. The 3-pad slipper assembly is included in both Carpet and Dirt edition trucks for its slippage characteristics matching the needs of most track conditions. The optional 2 pad configuration is available for times when smoother acceleration is needed in lower grip situations. Motor Plate The new motor mount plate is redesigned to fit the new LCG gear box design and accommodate the updated spur gear protector. The super lightweight motor mount is machined from Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium. The moulded composite gear protector prevents contact between the spur gear and the body. Moulded from strong, lightweight material, the cover helps to protect the body shell and spur gear. The motor plate is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Steering System The XT2 steering system was redesigned for both high traction and low traction conditions. The Fully Adaptive Steering System has many new parts including the steering arms, steering plate, servo horns, steering linkage, and pivot balls. The same components are included in both Carpet & Dirt Editions but allow different build configurations to alter the geometry depending on the track’s conditions. Smart & easy. Roll centre Holder The rear roll centre holder is redesigned to fit the new LCG gear box and features updated roll centre positions. The roll centre holder also serves as the rear anti-roll bar mount. An optional rear aluminium roll centre holder features roll centre positions in between the stock positions for additional tuning choices. The roll centre holder is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Drive Shafts To accommodate the new suspension and LCG differential dimensions, the drive shaft length has increased to 94mm for Carpet edition and 96mm for Dirt edition. The XT2 driveshafts are manufactured from world-renowned HUDY Spring Steel and feature 2.5mm drive pins for maximum drivetrain efficiency. The drive shafts are some of the world‘s thinnest yet most durable drive shafts used in electric off-road trucks. Treated with a proprietary hardening process; the drive shafts provide unbeatable lifespan and reliability. Rear Uprights Rear uprights feature new aluminium roll centre mounts with updated roll centre position. The upper roll centre is adjusted at the camber linkage via shims (up/down & in/out), while the lower roll centre is adjustable via eccentric inserts for 9 different positions (up/down & in/out). The multi-function uprights have the upper roll centre position in the middle of the axis of the driveshaft joint to help generate more traction and increase stability. There are three different uprights available: hard (included), graphite (optional), and aluminium (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions. Shock Towers The rear shock tower was redesigned to match the LCG gearbox. The front and rear shock towers are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Suspension Holders All-new narrower suspension holders are as narrow as the gear box allows. The narrower design increases rear traction. The aluminium suspension holders feature Integrated Suspension Settings (I.S.S.) which allows for quick & easy suspension geometry set-up. Machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium and black coated. The suspension holders are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition. Steering Blocks Both Carpet and Dirt Edition now feature the new 3 slots steering block extensions better suited for higher traction conditions. These extensions allow more steering angle and provide more steering in corners. The overall travel was increased so the truck has more steering in tight corners. The composite blocks are moulded from a special composite mixture for maximum strength. There are three different steering blocks available – medium (option), hard (included) and graphite (option) – which are suitable for various track conditions View the full presentation here.
