Juan C. Aguirre wins at Caribbean On-road Nationals Posted: 14 Jul 2020 08:48 AM PDT This year’s Caribbean On-road Nationals in Puerto Rico saw a very good turn out of drivers. Due to the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic and to keep safe distance, only six drivers would qualify directly to the mains and one bump-up from the lower mains would make for a seven driver grid. The Nitro Sedan qualifying saw Franco Machado (Infinity/Max Power) taking the TQ from Guillermo Camacho (Capricorn/Max Power) 2nd and Juan C. Aguirre (Infinity/Ielasi Tuned) in 3rd. The A-main started with all drivers completing the first lap without incidents, and by the second lap Juan C. Aguirre passed Guillermo Camacho, allowing Aguirre to stay close to Machado. On lap 29 Franco Machado had a flame which promoted Aguirre into 1st place, a position he would hold onto all the way to the end of the race. So the final result saw Juan C. Aguirre (Infinity/Ielasi Tuned) with the win from Ivan Garcia (Mugen/O.S. Speed) in 2nd and Carlos Torres (Infinity/ O.S. Speed) in 3rd. Over in 1/8 Nitro, Fernando Mendez (ARC/Novarossi) took the win from Andy Baez (ARC/ Novarossi) 2nd and Peter Alvarado (Infinity/Ielasi Tuned) in 3rd. Volante V8T touring car rubber tyres Posted: 14 Jul 2020 07:52 AM PDT Volante have introduced their new V8T touring car outdoor asphalt tyres. The production of the Volante V5-36R, V7-32R, and 36R tyres had to face the problem of limited raw material for several months with the shortage having affected all major tyre manufacturers. As a result Volante opted to change the focus on the development of a brand-new asphalt tyres series – the V8T. The project combines several updates that started with the creation of a newly formulated rubber compound. The main goal was to produce a tyre that demonstrates longer durability and a reliable performance regarding grip and control. The new V8T series of tyres integrates a newly formulated tyre compound with an ultra-thin yet durable inner belt. The result is a more balanced tyre that provides consistent lap times from the beginning till the end. The V8T is available in 24R, 28R, 32R and 36R compounds, remounted on dish or 7-spoke rims.
