ZooRacing Gorilla 190mm FWD body shell

Posted: 24 Apr 2020 06:27 AM PDT

Following a first teaser image – that already created quite a stir – ZooRacing now fully unveil their new Gorilla touring car body shell for 190mm front-wheel drive touring cars. The Gorilla is ZooRacing’s latest 1/10th scale on-road body shell and their idea of a high-performance front-wheel drive body shell for this ever growing and very fun class. The goal was to create a stylish yet efficient body with advanced aerodynamics while still offering a somewhat scale look, that takes design cues from a famous Japanese hatchback car, while meeting with current FWD touring car body shell regulations. The Gorilla features a futuristic, compact design with a low roof line, wide wheel arches and a huge front splitter all of which add to very balanced downforce which is further helped by a large rear wing and integrated roof spoiler. The front of the body features a scale-looking grille section while the sculptured hood further adds to the visual appearance. The wheel arches sport moulded-on air guide plates for exceptional stability, not only aerodynamically but they also reinforce the fender sections to ensure long durability. The body is rounded out by sturdy wing mount posts that are part of the rear window.

The design allows to shift the body forth and back by a couple of millimetres in order to fine-tune the car’s balance and to allow the adoption to pretty much every 1/10th scale FWD chassis. The lid comes moulded from high-quality 0.7mm polycarbonate and using ZooRacing’s ZOOlite moulding process for a low weight of only 85g – painted and race-ready – and a very low overall centre of gravity, making for higher corner speeds than usual FWD body shells. Part of the package are also the revolutionary 2-step window masks in a new more flexible and stickier quality that will ensure window frames of Pro quality. In a first step all windows are masked using the Step 1 masks. After the painting of the body is completed, the masks will be removed and replaced by the slightly smaller Step 2 masks that leave the window frames exposed and ready to be painted in your favourite colour. The result is highly precise without the need to pre-cut or in-body-cut the window masks, ensuring greater satisfaction and less chances of creating predetermined breaking points. The body package is rounded out by high-quality wing mounting hardware and a highly detailed sticker sheet including grille, head and tail lights.

Features:
– CAD designed
– Specialised FWD body shell with balanced front-to-rear downforce
– Low-profile design for highest top speeds and corner speeds
– Structured rear end for anti-tuck capabilities
– Large wheel arches allow the body to be placed forth or back to fine-tune aerodynamics
– Large wheel arches ensure the tyres will not rub in whatever position
– Anti-tuck capabilities with structured side skirts
– The 0.7mm ZOOlite body weighs in at 85g race-ready
– Body height 125mm
– Detailed decal sheet
– 2-step window masks. New, more flexible and stickier quality
– Wing mounting hardware

ARC release more R12 details

Posted: 24 Apr 2020 03:43 AM PDT

ARC have released more details about their highly anticipated R12 mid-motor touring car. The company started the project with three main goals: to maximise the mechanical traction, to centralise the transmission, and lower the overall centre gravity. Following a lot of evaluation and track tests all over the works, the R12 will feature all-new suspension arms that are increased in length in order to improve overall traction and corner speeds while offering two different shock mounting positions. The matching suspension blocks are of a more narrow design to complement the long arms. The upper deck is now of a 2-piece design with independent flex adjustments front and rear while the all-new drivetrain pulley design provides a very centralised drivetrain for increased stability and handling. Also new is the 1-piece easy flex adjustment more mount with a lightweight motor bulkhead design. A new spur adapter ensures quick and easy main gear changes while the new chassis offers optimised flex with mounting positions for both the new long and the older short arm design. All-new low centre of gravity anti-roll bars, new bulkheads with an updated roll centre adjustment design and an all-new rear shock tower, that supports horizontal and vertical body post mounting rounds out the package. The R12 is set for a release around mid-May.
