Oliveras & Harris win at JConcepts Super Cup Rd2 Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:26 AM PST Round 2 of the JConcepts Super Cup was held at Dean’s Discount Hobbies in New Port Richey, Florida this past weekend. With 80 entries and some great weather, the racing atmosphere was very relaxed and fun for all. The track started out a little slick for round 1 of qualifying, but by round 2 the groove was up as racers began to rip the throttle and lay down the rubber. The traction continued to come up as the double A-mains rolled around providing some exciting action in all classes. When the dust had settled and in the 2WD Mod Buggy A-main it was top qualifier, Julien Oliveras with the win from Paul Wynn in 2nd and Ryan Casteline in 3rd. In the 13.5T Wheeler class it was Ryan Harris with the overall TQ and also the win in both A-mains for the overall from Erik Everett in 2nd and Rob Offutt in 3rd. The latter two would end tie on points with the better end for Erik in the tie-breaker. Expert 17.5T 2WD Buggy saw again Ryan Harris with the overall TQ and he would also come out on top after the double A-mains, however he had to go through the tie-breaker with Dalton Hashbarger, the latter having to settle for 2nd overall and in front of Dustin Spallone. Collin Weatherholt TQs & wins at FRL Rd2 Posted: 11 Feb 2020 06:35 AM PST The Ohio RC Factory of Jeffersonville, Ohio held round 2 of the FRL series last Saturday, attracting nearly 80 entries. In the premier 1/8th Pro Nitro Buggy class it was Collin Weatherholt with the overall TQ and he would also come out successful in the 20-minute A-main event, leaving behind 2nd place qualifier, Scott Kuchler in 2nd, some three seconds down. In 3rd it was Jeff Switzer who would round out the top 3 result some 15 seconds behind Scott. Czech Masters Series Rd5 – Report Posted: 11 Feb 2020 03:40 AM PST Round 5 of the Czech Masters Series was held in Prague last weekend, attracting a very competitive field of drivers. In the 2WD Buggy class it was Adam Izsay who was able to TQ all three rounds of qualifying with Max Götzl in 2nd and Antonia Kovalzski in 3rd. 4WD Buggy qualifying saw Max taking the overall TQ after coming out on top in Q1 and Q3 as Adam came in 2nd and Jiri Mara putting his car on the 3 spot on the grid. In the Truck class Max made a clean sweep in the qualifiers to take the overall TQ from Frank Hempel in 2nd and Marcel Dostál 3rd. Max and Adam had some nice battles in the opening two 2WD A-mains with ultimately Adam holder the upper hand to take the overall from Max in 2nd and Antonia in 3rd, making it an all-Xray top 3. A1 of 4WD saw Max and Adam again in a close battle and Adam was able to grab the win while in return it was Max with the win in A2 following a huge mistake of Adam. The decisive A3 saw Max starting on older tyres which meant a disadvantage on the somewhat low-grip carpet, however Max was able to hold onto his 1st place to take the win from Adam in 2nd and Antonia in 3rd, making it another all-Xray top 3. In the Truck class Max would be able to take wins in A1 and A2 for an early overall win from Frank Hempel (Team Associated) in 2nd awhile Marcel Dostal (Xray) completed the top 3 podium result. The wheel is moulded from a lightweight material yet the design is super strong and thanks to 12mm hex fittings it is suitable for most of the popular 1/10th scale stadium trucks. Dustin Evans doubles at Rumble In The Rockies Posted: 11 Feb 2020 01:37 AM PST MHOR RC Raceway of Aurora, Colorado played host to the 2020 Rumble In The Rockies race this past weekend, attracting nearly 240 entries. Team Associated’s Dustin Evans was the driver to beat in the 2WD Modified and 4WD Modified classes, as he took the TQs and wins in both categories. In 2WD Mod Buggy Dustin bagged the win early after coming out on top in A1 and A2 for the overall from A3 winner, Xray’s Zac Gastelum in 2nd and TLR’s Tyler Whitt in 3rd. Over in 4WD Mod Buggy it was again Dustin with wins in A1 and A2 for an early overall title. TLR’s Zeke Ballinger took A3 to cement his overall runner-up spot from Zac Gastelum in 3rd. Ron DeVoll doubles at 2020 Ice Breaker Posted: 11 Feb 2020 12:46 AM PST The 2020 Ice Breaker was held at LSR Speedway of Sacramento, California last weekend, attracting nearly 190 entries. In the premier 2WD Mod Buggy class it was Kyle Layton with the overall TQ from Ron DeVoll in 2nd. The opening A-main saw Ron walking away with the win as Antonio Counsil came in 2nd. TQ Kyle Layton had to settle for 4th place. A2 then had Kyle taking the win as Ron only finished in 3rd place and behind 3rd place qualifier, Ezra Keller. The deciding A3 then would see Ron taking the win with a lap margin on Kyle Layton in 2nd and Ezra Keller in 3rd. This would also be the overall all-Team-Associated top 3 after the triple A-mains. Over in 4WD Mod Buggy Xray driver Kyle Turner would bring home the TQ but again Ron showed his strength in the A-mains, and by winning A1 and A2 he took the overall victory with one leg to spare as Kyle Turner cemented his overall runner-up position with a win in A3. The top 3 was rounded out by Team Associated driver, Gonzalo Cortez. MOD 5th Scale Championship Rd1 – Report Posted: 11 Feb 2020 12:06 AM PST The Fear Farm RC Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona played host for the first instalment of the MOD 5th Scale Championship Series of 2020. The event attracted nearly 75 entires for the 4WD and 2WD Truck and Buggy classes and in 4WD Truck Pro it was Matt Olson with the overall TQ. The 30-minute A-main event then again saw Matt up front, taking the win some two laps in front of Chris Higa in 2nd. Aaron Brown came in 3rd, some twelve seconds behind Chris. 4WD Truck Expert had Jose Carrillo taking the overall TQ but it was 2nd place qualifier, Daniel Fry with the win in the 25-minute A-main, a lap in front of Jason Turner as Derik Thibodeau came in 3rd, another lap down. 4WD Truck Sportsman was TQ’d by Jeff Kesar, however it was 3rd place qualifier, Ben Benavides with the win in the 20-minute A-main. Jim Riggs came in 2nd, a lap behind while 9th place qualifier, Bob Garver, finished in 3rd overall. 4WD Buggy Pro was TQed and won by Tom Stober who finished the 30-minute A-main a lap in front of Chris Higa as OBR Dan came in 3rd, another lap down. In the 4WD Buggy Expert category Jose Carillo came out on top both in qualifying and the A-main, leaving behind Daniel Fry in 2nd and Juan Cardenas in 3rd. 4WD Buggy Sportsman saw Jeff Kesar walking away with the TQ, however it was 2nd place qualifier, Randy Morrow with the win in the 20-minute A-main as Joe Okimoto and Brandon Lopez rounded out the overall top 3. ORB Dan took the TQ and win in the 2WD Open class a narrow two seconds in front of Jake McGarvey in 2nd. A lap down it was Carl Woosley with the final top 3 spot. The Beginners class was swept by Jessica Fry who took the overall TQ and also the win in the 15-minute A-main from Jason Morehead in 2nd and 10th place qualifier, Nathan Carroll in 3rd.
