More Awesomatix A12 prototype images

Posted: 16 Jan 2020 11:10 AM PST

Awesomatix have released more images of their A12 dubbed 1/12th scale project that hit the light of the day just days prior to last week’s 2020 IFMAR 1/12th scale World Championship. The pan car is of a pretty radical design with the main chassis having received a V-shape with the rear power pod obviously being attached directly to the “ears” of the V, doing away with traditional pitch and roll dampers. Machined aluminium braces on both sides of the chassis seem to allow the limiting of suspension travel while the front end is also of a somewhat unusual design with large diameter king pins and a construction that seems to allow for stepless spring preload and ground clearance adjustment. The car is still in prototype stages with the said vehicle having allowed Awesomatix’s team manager, Max Mächler to finish 5th in the Stock class A-main while Freddy Südhoff achieved a fine 18th place overall in the Modified class, leading a field of four A12s in Modified. The guys of Awesomatix will now sit down to evaluate the collected data and to refine and finalise the design.

Arena RC Racing X20 carbon fibre optionals

Posted: 16 Jan 2020 08:25 AM PST

Arena RC Racing have introduced new option parts for the Serpent X20 touring car. First up are 0.5mm carbon fibre upper arm bracket spacers. Designed to allow the fine-tuning the car’s roll centre settings the spacers are of a 1-piece design ensuring convenient changing and stacking if needed. The set includes four spacers machined from lightweight 0.5mm carbon fibre. Also new are 0.5mm motor mount shims that are placed under the centre bulkhead, raising the whole assembly in order to improve belt clearance when running the original upper deck. The set includes two 0.5mm carbon fibre spacers.

7075.it T4’20 new design brass receiver holder

Posted: 16 Jan 2020 08:19 AM PST

Coming from 7075.it and made for the Xray T4 2020 mid motor touring car is their redesigned brass receiver and transponder mount. Machined from heavy brass material and weighing in at 33g the mount attaches to the original Xray aluminium and carbon as well as 7075.it’s optional alloy chassis using a single screw, ensuring the mount will have virtually no influence on chassis tweak also thanks to a built-in 0.5mm shim that spaces the mount away from the chassis. An incorporated nose acts as an inner battery stop and the updated version of the mount now offers a 29.5x25mm platform for the receiver, allowing to mount larger units.

Xtreme Aerodynamics have announced the signing of multi-time IFMAR World Champion, Bruno Coelho to their team. The Xray factory driver will use Xtreme Aerodynamic’s body shells to deck out all of his on-road rides from now on and he has the following to say about the deal:

I’m really happy to announce that I decided to join Xtreme Aerodynamics! I’ve been following the work of Xtreme in on-road nitro classes and how they totally dominate that market and since they joined electric TC their results have been impressive. The new Xtreme Twister is for sure the body of the moment and I can’t wait to start this project. Finally I want to say thank you to Cristian Boni for the great opportunity and see you all in the next race!

TLR 8ight-X Elite 1/8th nitro buggy race kit

Posted: 16 Jan 2020 05:48 AM PST

Horizon Hobby have introduced the new TLR 8ight-X Elite 1/8th scale nitro buggy kit. The buggy builds on the championship-winning heritage of its predecessors with updates to the suspension geometry and drivetrain as well as the chassis layout that make it both easier to drive and tougher to beat. This version of the popular 8ight-X includes all of the desired factory team option parts and many updates in a one-box purchase, such as a carbon centre diff brace, 3.5mm shock shafts, aluminium front brace, front universals, 10mm wing riser, quick change engine mount, wider hexes, new pistons, carbon fibre arm inserts, poly-carbonate wing, and updated rear CVA axle. The drivetrain as well as the chassis layout have been completely redesigned making it easier to drive on the track and work on in the pit. The Elite chassis moves weight forward and decreases wheelbase is to give the car more overall grip. An updated radio tray now puts the throttle servo near the engine to eliminate additional linkage. The updated radio tray will ensure the throttle servo is rigidly mounted to avoid any flex by floating the servo off of the centre differential.

The kit also includes an updated aluminium front brace that provides smoother steering response and the steering rack allows more Ackermann adjustments and an improved servo saver to eliminate bellcrank bind during high loads. Other features include the option quick change one-piece version of the engine mount for easier maintenance, updated machined aluminium shock caps with threaded bleeder holes make for easy and consistent bleeding of oil and new bladders are also included for better bump handling. The next generation suspension geometry has been completely revamped making a car that is fast, nimble, and easy to drive. This includes a myriad of updates including longer front and rear arms, wider front pivot with less scrub radius, narrower rear pivot, and updated hub offset. As for the new suspension arms, webbing added between inner mounting tabs ensures optimised hinge pin fitment and the arms have been designed to accept stiffener plates that will allow racers to tune the flex of the suspension. The Elite kit will include both moulded plates and carbon plates. The kit, that is set for a release this January, is rounded out by a cab forward design body that helps with overall down force, which improves steering and overall stability. Cut lines have been updated for ease of installation and changing of settings.

Features:
– Pro level race ready
– 7075-3mm aluminium chassis
– Updated rear CVAs
– Front universals included
– Updated carbon radio tray
– Aluminium front brace
– +1 hexes

Smokem Racing R11 Mid MYD top decks

Posted: 16 Jan 2020 05:09 AM PST

Smokem Racing have announced their MYD series of top decks, starting with a variant for the ARC R11 Mid touring car. The upper decks have undergone extensive development and in the end, Smokem settled on a design that features a narrow 9mm front section which was found to deliver balanced flex characteristics despite the asymmetric design. The result is improved traction, increased in-corner steering and corner speed. The top deck also includes a bearing for fixing the top deck to the ARC chassis post as a tweak-free tuning option. The specific design ensures the top deck will never make contact with the motor as the chassis flexes, with ample clearance for large-pinioned spec class gearing. The top deck can also be easily removed, making spur gear and belt changes a breeze.
