JConcepts introduce new Octagon tread rubber variants

Posted: 12 Sep 2019 09:57 AM PDT

JConcepts have announced the release of new rubber compound variants of their popular Octagon ST and SCT tyres. Developed for high-bite slick tyre racing the beauty of the Octagons lay just beneath the surface where JConcepts has removed a little surface area in the geometry based pattern. The carcass is slightly lower profile than JConcepts’ slick tires of the past and incorporates heavy X-pattern style inner ribbing for increased support. The continuous thickness carcass is light-weight and utilizes the industry standard 2.2” mounting beads. Like the name suggests, the embossed tread which is Octagon shaped is repeated and overlapped to form a subculture of grippy surface edges for dry or abrasive surfaces. The stadium truck variant is now available in Aqua and Silver compound while the SCT line has the Silver compound added. All come including grey colour Dirt-Tech inserts.

7075.it T4F aluminium & brass option parts

Posted: 12 Sep 2019 06:11 AM PDT

7075 Special Parts from Italy have announced the release of more aluminium and brass option parts for the Xray T4F FWD touring car. First up is a LCG 7075-T6 aluminium chassis that is stiffer and narrower than the original carbon fibre chassis, making it ideal for medium to high-bite track conditions. Excessive machining of the rear portion still allows for a certain amount of flex, retaining good rear end side bite. The chassis is available separately or as combo package including front, centre and rear end brass weights.

Also new is a 2mm aluminium variable flex top deck whose stiffness is adjustable using two shiftable supports that can be used to fine-tune the flex point of the upper deck. This way the overall stiffness of the chassis can be adjusted with the alloy top deck being usable in combination with the standard carbon fibre or optional alloy main chassis. Next up are revised geometry front and rear shock towers whose updated upper shock absorber positions allow more suspension droop without having to unscrew the lower damper ball cup. Last but not least in the alloy department is a black anodised bumper holder plate that adds strength and looks. As for the brass optionals, 7075.it offer a FF front suspension holder that that adds about 25g of weight for increased front traction in lower bite conditions.

Turkey Onroad Championship Rd5 – Report

Posted: 12 Sep 2019 04:23 AM PDT

The 5th and final round of the Turkey Onroad Championship TORC was held at the Bursa Bumod track in great weather conditions and with a record entry for the 2019 season, making it the most competitive season of the last ten years. In the Electric Touring Modified class the race for the win was on between Atahan Yildiz, Mert Can Cakmak, Gökay Aktan and Yunus Şahin. In the end it was Mert with the win at round 5 from Athan Yildiz in 2nd and Yunus Sahin in 3rd, making it an Xray top 3. With his runner-up spot Athan was able to also seal the overall championship, his second in his young racing career.

The Electric Touring Stock class saw the introduction of new hand-out RPM-limiting electronics for the 2019 season. An unknown at the start of the season everything worked out pretty well and in the end the championship was a 3-horse race between Atahan Yildiz, Poyraz Serezlioglu and Ali Kaya. Racing was tight and A-main spots hard fought for. In the end it was Athan with the win from Poyraz and Ali, making it another all-Xray 1-2-3. When the dust had settled Ali was able to walk away with the overall title in the Stock category.

Over in the 1/10th Nitro Touring class four different drivers were in contention for the overall win. Right from the start Mert Koroglu looked like he would dominate the proceedings but bad luck in the qualifiers meant he had to go through the semifinals with his performance being good enough to take P5 on the A-main good. In the opening stages of the race top qualifier Alain Sarafyan showed a great pace until bad luck caught him during a pit stop for tyres. This promoted Halit into the lead that only endured for eight minutes until his car turned into a 2WD. From down the field Mert took the win while Halit was able to bring home a 2nd place finish. This was enough to go into a tie-breaker with Alain for the overall title, that ultimately went to Halit for the second time in a row. Up and coming Mirac Kaja came in 3rd to round out the podium at round 5, making it another all-Xray podium.

Round 5 of the Canadian Western Offroad Racing Series was held recently. In 2WD Buggy it was Navaj Walji with the win from Mark Hughes in 2nd. Paul Parks, who started 2nd on the grid, had to settle for 3rd overall after some mixed results in the triple mains. In 4WD Mod Paul Parks was able to sweep all three rounds of qualifying to secure the overall TQ. A1 started out with a 4-way battle for the lead. After the 2-minute mark Paul was able to stretch a 2-second lead and secure the win. A2 started out much the same as A1, Paul put his head down and started putting in consistent quick laps to take the win in A2 and secure the overall win from Jeff Cohen and Jason Tellstone.
