Aside from making children's crafts from scraps I also learned how to make a candle souvenir from leftover candles. Here's a sample of a simple souvenir I made from melted candles. If you are going to make more pieces for souvenirs you'll just have to buy the raw materials.

When I was little, we had a massive sliding glass door to the garden. One day, my mum's friend came over to visit and walked right into the glass door while trying to go outside. Ever since then, we've always put window clings up as a precaution. Now, I make them from scratch so they can look how I want!

Quilt Binding Without Mitered Corners
By Little Suzy
How to sew binding on a baby quilt (it could be a big quilt also) without having to bother with doing mitered corners. Mitered corners are hard to get just exactly right and if you are a perfectionist and want it to look just so, then you should try this method.

Keeping Seams Together When Sewing
Tips for keeping your seams together while sewing from the ThriftyFun community. I'm new to sewing. Pinning fabric together doesn't always leave me with matched seams. I tried an experiment which worked well for me.

To make a beaded wineglass charm, you will need medium sized earring hoops, decorative beads and charms, and pliers. Thread the beads and charms on the hoops in a neat, decorative pattern. Do not overload the hoop with beads.

My kids enjoy having a "pet" themed art piece to accompany their book when it's story time. Last week, we read a book, from the library, so they wanted to make a turtle too.

This Avery shipping label packaging is made from thick and sturdy cardboard. You can easily customize this into a hanging folder for your wall. I ended up using this as a place to organize my bills so I know to pay them.

This is a fun way to recycle coffee lids by making cute animals with paint and/or construction/paper. This is a great activity to do with your child. You can actually tie a ribbon/string knot from the top (of the hole) as an ornament, or make this as a banner for a party, glue to a craft stick or play as is!

Drinking Straw Statement Necklace
By attosa
I save straws for two reasons: to save the earth and to make beautiful jewelry. I love this necklace because it's super easy to make and makes any plain outfit incredibly bold. I get so many compliments on it when I wear it out and no one knows they're upcycled scraps of plastic. Give it a try!

Laundry Room Sock Matching Sign
By attosa
Don't you hate it when your socks get separated, then when you finally find one, you could have sworn you've seen its counterpart somewhere around the house, but you're not sure where?

Turn the skirt wrong side out and sew the bottom of the skirt closed. Turn back right side out, and sew your boa or ribbon on as in the picture for the handle. You are done! I hand sewed mine but you can use a sewing machine if you like.

Make a Handbag from Chenille Bedspreads
By Elaine
If you have any of those old chenille bedspreads around, put it to good use and make a handbag. I made this one to show off the pink center in the daisy. That part is the flap of the bag.

This is a cute and fun way for your child to play with puppets, theater, dolls, make believe, animals, tell stories, etc. Besides making your own characters on cardboard, you can also find pets, or animals/dolls in magazines and attach to craft sticks too!

A Birthday Greeting Sheet Craft Project. A few years ago, my children who were in their late teens decided to spray paint a bedsheet as a birthday card and hang it outside. It is a creative way to say Happy Birthday to someone and it is a keepsake. . .

Turn Pine Wood Furniture into Objects of Art
By Benetta
I have always loved wooden furniture. Unfortunately, in South Africa, wooden furniture is very expensive. The only wooden furniture that is affordable are items made from pine wood, which does not really fit in with my taste in home décor. So, what to do when you have a beer income with champagne taste?

Make Drawer Handles into Mini Frames
By Sandi/Poor But Proud
Gluing together the back sides of each drawer pull, you get a mini rounded/rectangular frame shape. This is what you can make out of them. I got the wrong size and simply made something else with them.

Keep Cross Stitch Material Clean With an Old Sock
By Marti S.
I do a lot of cross stitching and have often found the material at the bottom to be more soiled than I thought it should be. I figured that this was because of my arm rubbing against the material on the scroll bar. I took one of hubby's socks, cut the ribbing off and slipped it on my arm; no more soil!

In true frugal fashion, I've been using a hot water bottle to warm the foot of my bed instead of the expense of an electric blanket. After more years than I care to admit, mine had finally sprung a leak (thankfully, not while in my bed).
