By participating in the Writing Personal Essays workshop, you'll have a chance to examine life on the page. Author Dinty Moore tells writers, "That slight aspect of your personality (or fantasy life, or hidden world) that you think so odd, so peculiar, so weird, that you’ve kept it a secret your entire life, is most likely far more common than you think." Commit to sharing your experience. The online workshop begins Thursday, April 7th and lasts for six weeks.

In the Writing Personal Essays class, you'll write about significant moments. Assignments include writing about a pivotal life moment, an emotional moment, an insightful moment, a difficult encounter, and an unresolved situation. You'll also get to submit a revision of a previous assignment. Instructor Tracy Strauss will provide you with feedback for each assignment.

"What I enjoy most about teaching writing is helping writers use specific tools of craft to recreate the world of their lives on the page. In the process, I see writers create art out of their life events in a way that allows them to master their stories, a process that is not only healing to the writer but helpful and inspiring to the reader."

  ~ Tracy Strauss

One student said, "Tracy Strauss gave very constructive feedback that I was able to use." Another student said, "Learned a lot from Tracy and would absolutely take another class from her." Tracy is only available to teach for WDU a couple of times a year so take advantage of this special opportunity now.
