Melbourne Rebels set for Weary Dunlop Shield Clash
Headlining the match day 23 is a pair of Rebels who have made their mark on the Melbourne club’s legacy. Running out for their 50th Rebels game, Captain Rob Leota and club leader Sam Talakai take the field together, notching up their individual milestones after spending multiple seasons as teammates. Matt Gibbon, Jordan Uelese, and Sam Talakai lead the charge in the starting front row, backed up by the lock pairing of local Angelo Smith and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto. Josh Kemeny returns from injury making his way into openside flanker and will be joined in the back row by Rob Leota and Tuaina Taii Tualima.
The Melbourne Rebels have announced their Round 3 Super Rugby Women’s team to take on the NSW Waratahs at Allianz Stadium. Starting in the front row will be Victorian local Laiema Bosenavulagi partnering with Jiowana Sauto, and try scoring Jayme Nuku at hooker. Nuku scored two of the Rebels’ tries and was a continual threat at set piece and around the park.
The Bells Hotel is still our Home Away From Home and this Friday night we are being treated to a DOUBLE HEADER. Our Super Rugby Women’s and Super Rugby Pacific teams will be taking on the Waratahs at Allianz Stadium. Watch our women who kick off at 5:05pm then the men who kick off at 7:35pm.
