Good afternoon and welcome to the 'Rule of six'.

It may sound like a Hollywood feature film but it's actually the latest government buzz phrase to make sure we are all abreast of the latest restrictions.

Even those who watched the press briefing yesterday online, including the feast of complicated graphics,  will be probably wondering what it all means - which is totally understandable, frankly.

Here's what the Prime Minister said yesterday and why we may be looking at restrictions up until Christmas unless there is a dramatic reduction in cases.

Meanwhile, confusion is afoot in Preston, as Preston Council bosses seemingly contradict the government line about who should take a test.

But the news is not all Covid related.

A man has been charged with murdering his brother in Lancaster and over in Longridge, a reward has been offered in a bid to find out who shot Tilly the rescue cat and a teenager has been attacked in Clitheroe.

But in good news, a woman missing for more than a week has been found safe and well.

And local democracy reporter Paul Faulkner has laid out why Lancashire County Council wants to scrap itself - and every other authority in the county.

Talking of councils - can you remember what bills you paid 28 years ago?

One man can - and he's finally won his battle over a council tax overpayment!

As always, many thanks for supporting lep.co.uk and have a decent Thursday,

Best wishes, Nicola
