Her work is an ongoing "autobiography of images", one that utilizes the people, places and objects closest to her through which to explore universal themes. She strives to make images that challenge the expected by employing extreme perspective, narrative flips, scale, stop-motion, low-light situations, or objects of momento mori. Recurring themes include control, mortality, and gender roles. She is the recipient of numerous awards from prominent institutions and organisations including the Portrait Society of America, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Woodmere Art Museum, the American Artists Professional League and the Allied Artists of America. Her work has been exhibited in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum, the National Arts Club in New York City, the Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill, PA, and the Customs House Museum in Clarksville, TN. Three of her paintings are featured in Alla Prima: A Contemporary Guide to Traditional Direct Painting, written by Al Gury and published by Watson-Guptil, NY. Rachel exhibits regularly in museums and galleries across the United States and the United Kingdom, and is currently on view in the exhibition 'Academy Generations; 1930's to 2022' at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where she is part of the permanent collection. Rachel splits her time between her two studios; one in Center City Philadelphia and one in Cambridge, UK. Click Here to view Rachel's CV.
