A soldier’s death prompts questions: A sergeant in the U.S. Army who had just been accepted into sniper school was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on the sprawling Fort Polk military base in central Louisiana last October. He died in custody, and his death has prompted several investigations and questions from his family, Faimon Roberts reports. Heavy metal: Dozens of iron beams were reported stolen from the New Orleans construction site of the Five O Fore golf-entertainment complex. This was no small-time job – the beams each weigh nearly a ton and the purloined steel is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, Kasey Bubnash reports. A first for Emeril: Emeril Lagasse plans to open a restaurant in Caesars casino in downtown New Orleans. Our food guy Ian McNulty reports that the eatery will mark a first for the ultra-famous celebrity cooker. C'est magnifique: Our fave football team has become the first (and only, they tell us) NFL team to receive international marketing rights in France. Perhaps a natural fit for a team that sports the fleur-de-lis on its helmets? Now, how do you say “Who Dat?” in French? Thanks for reading Lunch Line.
