It was a day of shocking news about China’s woes with its coronavirus epidemic, with the revelation the infection numbers were shown to be more than 30% higher than the previous day.

Australia’s second largest telco Optus has reported “slightly lower” quarterly operating revenues year on year, down from $2,419 million in 2018 to $2,393 million for 2019, with higher NBN migration revenue offsetting lower equipment and service revenues.

Google phone has just pipped Motorola in the mobile phone handset customer satisfaction ratings, taking number one spot with a rating of 95.6% to Motorola’s 93.4% rating, in the latest Roy Morgan ratings report.

In case you missed it yesterday, the merger between two of Australia's largest telcos Vodafone Hutchison Australia and TPG Telecom has been given the green light after a successful court challenge to an initial ACCC ruling in regard to 'lessened competition.'

As Covid-19 threatens to spiral out of control in China, the 2020 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona has been cancelled due to fears about the coronavirus. It was to have been held on 24-27 February.

Meanwhile in Melbourne, Networking giant Cisco has decided to cancel its Cisco Live event, which was scheduled to be held from 3 to 5 March, due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus around the globe.
