Hello there, This week on Q+A… Australia after the referendum. On Saturday the nation voted not to enshrine an Indigenous Voice to Parliament in the Constitution. So what comes next? And what does it mean for First Nations people? Meanwhile, the eyes of the world are on the Middle East, as Israel strikes back against the deadly attacks by Hamas, vowing that Gaza "will never return to what it was". With a ground offensive looming, it's feared the conflict could leader to a wider war in the region. What do the coming weeks hold? And a win for quiet diplomacy, with journalist Cheng Lei back home in Australia after three years' detention in China. Her release comes ahead of the PM's visit to Beijing and has been celebrated as "a moment of sunshine for all Australians". Does this herald a further easing of tensions with China? Q+A is live from Melbourne tonight, Monday October 16, at 9.35pm AEDT. Joining Patricia Karvelas on the panel live in Melbourne: Alexander Downer, Former Foreign Affairs Minister Patrick Gorman, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister Lidia Thorpe, Independent Senator for Victoria James McGrath, Liberal Senator for Queensland Dee Madigan, Creative Director & Author If you would like to submit a question for consideration, please submit one via our website for the chance to ask the panel. Each week, Q+A selects our top question to highlight in the newsletter. Scroll down to watch Monday's toughest question: Clayton Cruse said he hadn’t heard a good argument from a non-Aboriginal Australian about why they would vote "No". Watch Q+A Monday at 9.35pm AEDT on ABC TV, or ABC iview. Looking forward to hearing your questions. |

The Voice Campaign Claims |
|
Clayton Cruse asked to James Stevens: As a No supporter, how are you comfortable being associated with a campaign that continues to spread disinformation and misinformation; a campaign which has a modus operandi of working to confuse people, when the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are on the line? How do you feel being associated with Senator Jacinta Price, who said that there are “no ongoing negative impacts of colonisation” as well as Warren Mundine, who stated that the Uluru Statement from the Heart is a “declaration of war on modern Australia”? | WATCH NOW |
