"Still not an advertising company": In January, Apple started having NBCUniversal sell ads in Apple News. Nine months later, the deal hasn't amounted to much. One side effect of publishers' pivots to video: declining pageviews. Some publishers that shifted their focus to video this summer experienced at least a 60 percent decline in their website traffic in August compared to the same period a year ago. Clevver Media, Defy Media's entertainment and women's lifestyle brand, has built sizable followings on YouTube and Facebook. Now, it's developing a strategy to create more direct connections. From Cristiano Ronaldo to Alex Morgan, Coca-Cola has frequently worked with soccer sponsors. In EA's "FIFA 18" video game, however, a virtual soccer star will promote the beverage brand for the first time.
