The Protect Utah Workers coalition far exceeded their signature gathering goal, turning in a whopping 320,000 signatures to put a referendum on the ballot so Utah voters can weigh in on the collective bargaining ban passed by the legislature this year. They need 140,748 verified signatures, and have to hit specific thresholds in 15 of 29 Senate districts. A Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll showed that 34% of Utahns support the law and 38% are against it.

- 1913 - Dorothy Fosdick is born. She worked as a federal official from 1942 to 1953, developing the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan, advised on national security and wrote speeches for Henry âScoopâ Jackson (1955-83).
