| PRO MUSICA Out of Darkness into Light

CAM Members & students with valid college ID: $12.00 Non-Members:$18.00, UNCW Students free w/ ID (tax and fees not included) Now in its sixth season, the Pro Musica Concert Series - celebrating the works of living composers - will present a concert entitled "Out of Darkness into Light", a new work performed by composer William Neil. Premiering this arrangement with Mr. Neil is the Pro Musica Ensemble: Nancy King (soprano), Danijela Zezelj-Gualdi (violin), Helena Spencer (contrabassoon), Laurent Estoppey (saxophones) and Robert Nathanson (guitar). "Out of Darkness into Light" is really a mystery play interpreting, through composed and improvisational music, the beautiful prayer-like text that Malgosia Sawczuk created after her remarkable restoration work in the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Chicago. PROGRAMMING The Nile Project Community Day @ CAM
In collaboration with UNCW Presents
Sunday, March 26, 1:00 - 5:00 PM - Free and open to the public, donations appreciated CAM in partnership with UNCW Presents and The Nile Project invite you to participate in mini-concerts, discussion and storytelling led by seven of The Nile Project's 17 musicians from the Nile region including Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan create and perform new music as a collective, with buzzing timbres and ingenious polyrhythms supporting vocals in more than ten languages. CAM Café will be open extended hours until 4:00 pm, offering a special menu inspired by the Nile region in addition to their regular brunch menu for purchase throughout the afternoon. The events begin at 1:15 pm with Riverstories, conversations about the Nile and Cape Fear Rivers with Nile Project producer and CEO, Mina Girgis, poet Kylah Thorpe and storyteller Madafo Lloyd Wilson. Jazz @The CAM - Season Finale Jua

CAM/CFJS Members: $12.00, Non-Members: $20.00, Students with valid college ID: $10.00 (tax and fees not included) We welcome back the season five opener, Jua performing with a trio comprised of Andrew Berinson (piano), Donovan Cheatham (drums), and Lance Scott (bass) to close out season seven. Jua is a unique and emotive jazz vocal stylist whose range brings to mind Jon Lucien and Will Downing, among others. Jua Howard (who uses only his first name professionally, Swahili for "sun") was a background vocalist with the legendary Blackbyrds, "Jazz was clearly a big part of their foundation," he says of the Blackbyrds. "Singing with them made me think seriously about pursuing a career in jazz." In June 2014, Jua showcased his change in musical focus with the release of his sophomore cd Colors of Life. "Although these works begin based on my personal experiences, I attempt to create pieces that communicate emotions that are a part of the human experience.
