| LPs focus on ESG transparency
As ESG moves increasingly into the mainstream, the question is no longer of whether to integrate ESG into portfolios, but are these types of investments being monitored in a satisfactory way. It gives the LP-GP relationship an added depth, and brings the question of transparency between them to the forefront. Is this dialogue a productive one today, and do GPs consider demands for more transparency reasonable? Read this week's feature and find out… Also this week, following February's turbulent start, the global private equity space has been fighting back with a number of positive firsts. The week started with London-based private equity firm IMAN Capital making its first investment since launching in 2018 – the acquisition of a majority stake in Spanish fintech company Crealsa Investments. In Germany, Sanity Group, a medical cannabis and wellness company, closed a USD22 million Series-A round, making it Europe's largest cannabis financing round to date. It also marked the first foray into cannabis investing for Scooter Braun’s investment fund TQ Ventures, which joined Casa Verde in the round. Rounding off this week of firsts, Legend Capital closed the transfer of portfolio companies from its 2008 LC Fund IV into a new USD200 million continuation vehicle in China. According to the firm, this signals exciting new opportunities in the country's private equity market, and could be viewed as somewhat countering the panic surrounding Chinese markets earlier this month.
