Got “Maskne?” How to address an ugly situation Have you experienced breakouts on your face since the start of the pandemic? If so, don’t panic. It might just be “Maskne” or acne caused by wearing a mask. Masks cover your mouth and nose, which makes the environment around your face more humid. This excess moisture, combined with the cloth's friction against your skin, can lead to pimples and rashes. Fortunately, Maskne is easy to fix: Take your mask off at home or in your car and try to wash your face twice a day instead of once. At the very least, wearing your mask will cover up any pimples that do appear. If your mask is irritating you, try making a new one out of softer fabric.
