| | | | Dear Mozilla Supporter, Your privacy matters. Whether you’re logging your fitness, listening to anxiety-reducing guided meditations, DM'ing with a therapist, or tracking your menstrual cycles — we believe you have a right to know how your data and online activity are being tracked and used. That's why the work of our *Privacy Not Included team is so valuable. Their research and reporting has had a significant impact on privacy policies across industries — and everything they do is with the goal of helping individuals understand how their data is being used in products that connect to the internet. Will you donate to support this important work? Just a few weeks ago, they published a guide that has already improved privacy among major mental health apps. The guide revealed that many of the most popular mental health and prayer apps neglect users’ privacy, harvest sensitive personal data, and capitalize on it as a business asset. Since the release of our guide, six of the 28 apps labeled with a privacy warning improved privacy for their users. Now, as a matter of urgency after the Supreme Court’s ruling on June 24th, the *Privacy Not Included team has begun researching the privacy and security of menstruation tracking, fertility, and pregnancy apps to protect the privacy of people who can get pregnant in the U.S. today. Their goal is to help those who use these apps know which ones will protect their privacy, and which could share or leak data that could lead to their arrest or harassment in states where reproductive rights are rapidly being rolled back. They began their research last month, and their goal is to publish the guide ASAP. Please help support this work and get this guide in the hands of those who need it most. Thank you, Ashley Boyd | |
