Predatory paedophile jailed | Leyland man bailed | Police issue update over woman's death

In a change to your usual Wednesday newsletter, this week we've rounded up the latest from the police and courts in the county.

• A paedophile who repeatedly raped a 13-year-old girl has been jailed following an investigation by Lancashire Police.

Chris Morriss, 49, was convicted of ten rapes on the 13-year-old and will serve at least 11 years before he is eligible to apply for parole.

• A man who was arrested after a teenager was raped in a Leyland park last Friday (July 22), was bailed on Saturday.

The 18-year-old suspect, from Leyland, was taken into custody after a teenage girl reported being raped in Strawberry Valley Park in Bent Lane at around 4am on Friday.

• Three men have been released with no further action after being arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Crawshawbooth.

Paramedics found 38-year-old Lisa Price with head injuries after being called to an address in Spring Street on March 1, 2022 - she was pronounced dead at the scene.
